It looks like we're in really good shape as long as our opponents don't defend the paint.

At least Eichorst explained his actions - or inactions. I'm OK with it. But yes, some opposing coach out there is going to use it as a negative recruiting tool against NU. They will use it likely...just as much as they will use Miles record at NU, and the instability within the program. I don't have any issue with the decision...Miles still has 4 years left on the contract. The last two years have not warranted an increase. I've read this kind of sentiment on this and other boards and I find it interesting that some people will discount the NCAA tourney appearance in Miles' 2nd year as being really nothing more than a 9-game hot streak yet not apply the same kind of one-off reasoning to the performance the following year. In other words, the argument goes: it was a hot streak and not coaching that got us into the dance; yet it was a lack of coaching (or bad coaching) and not insurmountable chemistry issues between a couple of our top players that lead to a disappointing season the following year. I'm not saying Miles is blameless in looking at his record over the last 2 years, but I think some of the criticism directed at him by some posters here and elsewhere is a little over the top. I think a reasonable argument can be made that Miles deserves a good bit of the credit for getting us back to the dance -- in year 2 no less -- for the first time in 16 years (three other head coaches in that timeframe didn't get the job done) and that he's not entirely to blame for what happened the season after that. When you factor in what we've seen in recruiting and the assistants he's been able to land, on top of an NCAA tourney birth within his first 4 seasons, I'm frankly amazed that he doesn't seem to have any greater goodwill established with some of the fans than what he has.

  7. With 2 talented proven players in Stallworth and Morton basically redshirting this year they will have the benefit of all the support programs to make them even better and by contributing in practice they will learn first hand the system brought by coach Williams. They should hit the ground running next year and add ability and depth to the guard position.

  9. We averaged 72.2 PPG last season. I think we we will see Coach Lewis' impact on offense right away as we are a very balanced team offensively on paper (3pt shooting, post scoring, slashing, mid range, etc.)My guess is we will be at 74-76 PPG. I know that's not what my totals add up to but Fuller and Taylor's points won't be factored into every game since I don't think they will appear in every single game. Also the players won't average clean #s so the decimals will shave a point or two off.

Well Morrow is jacked, Jacobson is jacked, Watson looks cut and lean but I thought McVeigh looked the least improved of the four so it is interesting you say that. However, I very well could be wrong on McVeigh. This is as close as you'll see McVeigh get that jacked

For those who think Miles is on the hot seat, just a quick reminder...our program has NEVER won an NCAA tourney game. We haven't won a conference title since the 50s or somewhere in that ballpark. I think (and I know most on here agree) that unless this year is a complete disaster, he will, and should, be here for the foreseeable future. He has done wonders we've never seen since the early to mid-90s in recruiting. I'm as frustrated as many when it comes to the last 2 seasons. But at a program like we have that lacks much tradition, I truly believe you let a guy get 8-10 years and see what happens. Like others have said, in one way or another, who are you gonna go out and get that's better than Miles? You aren't stealing any of the bluebloods' coaches. So you're gonna be rolling the dice on an unknown coach. I believe in Miles still, and I say he gets the job done and gets us to at least a Sweet 16 before his time at NU is over!

Another strange move by Shawn. 3 months before signing date. Not so strange for a coach with questions... I'm not sure what you mean by this...are you saying Miles has questions for Eichorst? Or that there are questions that need to be answered in regards to Miles? I believe Miles needs to have a good year. Keep in mind, I believe Bo P got his 1 year extension even though people believe he should have been fired. I think winning is paramount. Wow, brilliant! Such insight! Winning is good!
