    More bad news!?

For those who think Miles is on the hot seat, just a quick reminder...our program has NEVER won an NCAA tourney game. We haven't won a conference title since the 50s or somewhere in that ballpark. I think (and I know most on here agree) that unless this year is a complete disaster, he will, and should, be here for the foreseeable future. He has done wonders we've never seen since the early to mid-90s in recruiting. I'm as frustrated as many when it comes to the last 2 seasons. But at a program like we have that lacks much tradition, I truly believe you let a guy get 8-10 years and see what happens. Like others have said, in one way or another, who are you gonna go out and get that's better than Miles? You aren't stealing any of the bluebloods' coaches. So you're gonna be rolling the dice on an unknown coach. I believe in Miles still, and I say he gets the job done and gets us to at least a Sweet 16 before his time at NU is over!

To me this is Eichorst hedging his bets here like a lot of us are. Either Miles is going to make it in the next 1-2 year or he won't. As my research is telling me, it's currently a non-issue for recruiting because if you really dig into it probably over half of Div 1 basketball is "on the hot seat" if you compare apples to apples.

  4. Please, do not ever link to a story that has an embedded tweet from one of the two worst radio broadcasters I have ever heard. I had forgotten that guy existed.

Assuming we have the kind of season most are expecting this year (note that I'm personally optimistic), than next year will be the deciding season in Miles tenure. However, my personal opinion is that Tim Miles will take us to our first NCAA win and beyond.

  9. Well I will move on but the former employee was not Jan Bethea and the player's name I won't disclose. I understand there's a kid involved in the divorce. I've dealt with that many times but have never seen the level of vitriol as in this case. I believe both parties have pretty legitimate issues with the other. But to be respectful, I won't discuss it any further. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another strange move by Shawn. 3 months before signing date. Not so strange for a coach with questions... I'm relieved that somebody on this board has answers...

As I have stated already, this would be sort of a non-story during a more basketball-newsworthy time of year. The hand-wringing about recruits is unwarranted since I truly doubt any high school kid plans four years into the future anyway. And is there anyone, ANYONE, who posts on HHC who would not feel pretty secure about his or her future if he or she had a four year contract with an employer for more than $2,125,000 per year?

  13. I thought he had the best post moves on the team last year. Just didn't use them much. In today's game bigs have to shoot and guards need to know how to post up.

Looks like it's going to be time to start producing results. Sink or Swim! Some don't seem to think Miles can do it (But I'm not one of 'em )

Either way these next two years will make or break Miles. If we're still losing key players early every year and finishing at the bottom of the standings he'll be gone. If we start winning and more importantly dancing (like I suspect we will) then he'll be allowed to stay as long as he pleases.

They made a one year extension last year on May 25th. There is no way Leebo is just going to forget that nothing was done this year so either it's an interview with Leebo or else it's a Leebo story that Miles wasn't extended but with Lee filling in the blanks. This way you get the puff quotes. I don't know what every coach in the B1G is signed through, but my first thought was to see what Chambers at Penn State is signed through. Last year he got a 2 year extension through 2019, which is still shorter than what Miles has. He also just signed a big recruiting class. My point is that I don't think this is going to hurt his recruiting, which is the most important thing. This is what it is: Miles is going to sink, swim, or tread in the next 1-2 years and we'll go from there.

I don't see it as a good thing OR a bad thing, personally. It's the nature of the biz and frankly, the results of the past two years don't really warrant an extension at this time anyway. Again, IMO. Tim has the core of what may eventually be a pretty solid group for him, so negative recruiting - while never a good thing - is better this year than it will be in say a year from now when he'll have a fair number of slots to fill. By then, we hope things will be trending in a good direction with the program. If not, it may be time to start thinking about cutting ties and moving on. I by no means want to see anything other than to see the program play in the postseason and see some consistency in the roster. Again, I think we have the core group now that can accomplish just that. But to remain complacent and say "well, finishing consistently in the 9th to 12th spot in the conference is okay for the foreseeable future" is just not acceptable. Especially when we're paying top half of the conference money for the coaching staff. Light a fire in the staff, let's go!

  20. Only read posts from one person here who thought it was a Miles and staff issue. Like it was stated there were only a couple on here, but in general in you ever go on to other boards, there were quite a few that arent well versed on the day to day of things like we are here that had their pitchforks ready to go. I think we tend to be a little more educated over here, at times, but just making more of a blanket statement as time goes on. Was basing on what was said here. Given folks on Rivals eat their young, I am not surprised there were more.

  23. I'd prefer the "31 wins" option myself. But if that comes with 31 uniforms, I'm on board.
