  2. ...how long do you suppose the commentariat can hold out on this one? That's what I was thinking when khoock teed that up so high yesterday with the Benny + 7 inches comment. When I checked this morning and nobody had taken the bait yet, I felt pretty obligated to respond.

  3. This write-up makes me think Evan Taylor is David Rivers, point guard edition. David was one of those team first guys that helped make his team successful by doing the little things. Not saying he'll play as much as David, just that the descriptions seem similar.

I hope the "purtey lights" will be mainly attuned to the red spectrum. In fact, I will be disappointed if blue shows up at all.

  5. He does seem to fit the athletic profile Miles looks for in that he is listed at 6'4" (or more) which is pretty long for a PG. the shooting percentages look a little scary, though. At this stage of the game beggars can't be choosers, and we sorely needed another guard for this upcoming season. Hopefully he can provide some depth behind Watson. Overall, I am pretty pleased with this find given the timing of the AW III transfer.

  6. That's a fantastic comparison, buglem, as far as potential impact. Team players who can compete at the D-1 level are greatly appreciated.

  7. I think he will sign with a team for the upcoming seasonI agree with both of these statements/questions. He looks as good or better than a lot of the regular roster guys who are playing in the Summer League. And unlike some of the guys who appear to be "getting their own", he isn't forcing much. I agree with this, but there are several people (especially Milwaukee Bucks fans) who are hating on him and think he's a black hole. I was reading a message board of theirs to see what they think of him and it was non stop hate. I think they are still butt hurt about Petteway and Co taking them down on no sit sunday

  8. Well said Norm. From the limited articles on him, he sounds like a team first player that isn't afraid to do the little things that help a team win. Not a bad type of guy as your 4th guard.

  9. ...how long do you suppose the commentariat can hold out on this one? I have no idea what that fancy word means but I've wanted to drop a "that's what she said" bomb since the Benny plus 7 inches comment. Because I'm a child.

  11. Was thinking the same thing. If he really loves defending and is good at it, then we are basically getting Benny Parker + 7 inches. An extra 7 inches is nothing to sneeze at.

  13. I do not understand why TP can't get picked up full time by a team. Makes zero sense to me... He's so much more "ready," both physically and from a skills perspective, than a huge amount of players coming into the league. He's also only got a few more years of his physical prime - so if a team needs to fill a spot with a much more readiness for a discount - why not TP?

  17. For a program that has had an unused scholarship as often as it has, the discussion is kind of moot at this point in time.

  19. How poor is that poor man you speak of? Like a picking-up-a-part-time-job-at-McDonalds-to-pay-his-alimony poor? Or the guy living under the West O Street bridge poor?

  20. People would have killed Tim for having 2 scholarships open this year. Between the back to back seasons of freshman PG transfers, Benny's graduation, White's transfer, and Palmer having to sit we needed a guard for this season. As long as everyone realizes we need depth with fairly capable players they should be happy he is here and will hopefully give us serviceable minutes for the next 2 seasons.

  22. 35% from the field...18% from deep. Not good. Solid assist/turnover ratio. Hopefully a stout defender that can take over Benny's role.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Noticed that he had some 0-6 games to further deflate his 3FG% at Odessa. On a positive note offensively, he was a double figure scorer in 11 games at JUCO even though he had quite a few games where stats seem somewhat spotty (as far as minutes played, anyway); Evan Taylor was 34% on three's at Samford while averaging 22 1/2 minutes per game.

  23. Good to have this young man on board! Considering how late all of this with White occurred, seems like a pretty good pick up at a guard spot where we need some depth. Some notable games from his frosh year at Samford (2014-15) --2 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast, 1 tnovr, and 4 steals in a loss to Purdue (21 min) (season opener) --0 pts, 3 reb, 1 ast, 3 tnovr, and 1 steal in a loss to Pitt (27 min) --8 pts, 5 reb, 1 ast, 2 tnovr, and 1 steal in a loss to Wake F (18 min) --13 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 0 tnovr, and 1 steal in a loss to UNCG in final game of season (conf tourney) (32 min) From his Samford bio page: Pass-first point guard with excellent size and length . . . boasts good command of the ball, excellent passing ability and court vision . . . his size allows him to see and deliver the ball over smaller defenders . . . he pushes, advances and moves the ball with good pace, which should make him a valuable cog in Samford’s energetic up-tempo offense . . . versatile . . . could play as many as four different positions . . . great on-ball defender . . . takes pride in shutting people down.
