2016 Husker Baseball

Have to think just getting 1 win in Omaha we should feel good about our at large chances. With that said, would be nice to bring home some hardware.2 points -
Wow didn't expect a 4-0 week. That's awesome.2 points

I have less angst about this than others. If you take a guy just to fill the maximum number, and the guy is a stiff or doesn't fit, it doesn't add anything. And it can hurt you the next year. We have steadily improved in being able to get legitimate Big 10 players. But it we can't get a last one this year who actually has a chance to contribute, I would rather use the ship the next year for a good player. You basically only play 8-10 guys anyway, and the days of guys willing to sit the bench for a couple of years to develop seem to be about over, so why add a guy to sit the end of the bench and then transfer, just to avoid a "self-imposed sanction"?2 points

Is there an RPI calculator for baseball like there is for basketball? The reason I am asking is that our 37 RPI could boost with a solid showing in Omaha. If we reach the championship game and or win the championship, you would think we might have a chance to host. Throwing down a big money bid and being the top team in the north could give us a chance to host no? It's a stretch, but a plausible one if you think about it.1 point -
2016 PF/C Jordy Tshimanga - Signed
AuroranHusker reacted to Fullbacksympathy for a topic
He didn't have great size. He was really tall. 270lbs is great size. That's 30lbs heavier than Patrick Ewing's playing weight. Anything over 250lbs is pretty much immovable, and Jordy carries it well. Count me as one who loved Maric. Jordy is a lot more talented than Maric was offensively as a freshman. Maric weighed 265 when he left. He was super muscular though. I hope we can transform Jordy's body in that way.1 point -
He addressed this directly on Sports Nightly Wednesday night. Said if we were able to get someone who could help, we would do it. If not, we would save it, and take another guy in 2017. I realize that isn't very specific, but clearly we have irons in the fire and haven't moved on from the 2016 class. So white leaves do we carry 2 scholarships over to next year??Try 3 We have 1 open currently. AWIII leaving would make 2. Shields and Parker became Roby and Horne. Evelyn and Hammond transferring became Palmer and Tshimanga. That leaves just the one open that was already open pending whatever AWIII decides to do. Right? He addressed this directly on Sports Nightly Wednesday night. Yeah sort of forgot about the birds and was going off of what publicly exists as a possibility. Anything is possible so we should just assume that several others are leaving too and that we have 7 open scholarships. What I don't get about Webster leaving is that if he continues to improve at the same rate that he did last offseason then he has a legitimate shot to play his way into a better pro job. I'm sure somebody heard something but Tai saying he is leaving if White leaves sounds a little bogus to me. It's like a 12 year old following the crowd and doing what his friends are doing. Hopefully White comes back so Tai will know what to do.1 point

My thought on this is that you don't fill it to just fill it. As Norm pointed out, you get a few interesting kids on a ship then. However, by having 13 worthy kids on ship you get kids practicing against better players which leads to better players. No I don't lose sleep over this and think recruiting is trending up in a big way. Just wish we could fill all 13.1 point

For us to take it up a notch or two this coming season, it will be in large part because of our ability and/or improvement in defending in the paint. This will allow our perimeter players to extend their defense. We will do that with someone like Jordy in the paint. We need him and I expect him to be within our main rotation.1 point -

Yep for a guy who some say is in over his head as a college coach, the team has come together nicely. Nebraska and Indiana are sitting tied for 2nd at 15-8 while Ohio State is right behind at 14-9 while Michigan is 13-9. Minny is 16-6 and the top seed; the 2nd through the 5th seeds are up for grabs. How does the tie breaker come into play with the two?1 point -
NAT NAT to transfer to Washington
mwm89 reacted to Norm Peterson for a topic
redsteve, I can live with that conclusion. Yori's gone, Nat's gone, time to move on. Best of luck to everybody and sorry things didn't work out better. I'm fine with that. Therefore, having said that, I'm really hesitant to get back into what dlrrk said or how I understood it or why I disagree with it. I'm willing to leave it at what I said above, which just echoed what you said above. Happy to support the program and the new coaching staff moving forward. Leave it at that. (Just, please, don't anyone qualify it by saying "we'll support those girls who want to wear the 'N'" because that's where I'll start picking nits.)1 point -

I apologize if I ruffled any feathers but I'm in the same boat Norm is in as we've both and maybe some others here at HHC have been privy to some inside information but we don't have any authority to state on here what we've been made aware of in an effort to protect Natalie. But what I do know is when accusations and assumptions are made about her that I know are false I'll stand up for her whether she's a Husker or not.1 point -

Well, I wish that's what you people who keep throwing Natalie under the bus would do. Why is it the strong desire of some on this board to knock her down on her way out the door? SHE has not said boo, publicly, about the whys and wherefores of leaving. Why is it so important for some of you to blame her and say "Obviously Romeo had issues with some of her teammates and that sort of situation can really wreck [sic] havoc with team chemistry?" She's gone now. I'm happy to get behind the team that remains. But I'm not going to sit idly by and allow misinformation to be spread about what went down. You want to drop it? Fine, let's drop it. But I'm not going to let the last word be an inaccurate word.1 point -

dlrrk, I do not think your post above was fair. You are making assertions about Natalie possibly wanting to leave last summer without any context whatsoever. Specifically, I take issue with this statement: "During the summer of 2015 Nat was talking with her friend about leaving Nebraska. Therefore, the idea that Yori’s departure was the catalyst for Nat’s departure is not true." I don't think your conclusion logically follows from your premise. It's a non-sequitur. There is context that would place what you've described in a significantly different light than how it's been presented. I am privy to some of that additional context but I am not "authorized" to share what I know. But suffice it to say that there is SUBSTANTIAL background that, when you post that information in isolation it permits and even suggests conclusions -- such as the conclusion that you, yourself have posited -- about Natalie's motivations that aren't accurate. At all. Unfortunately, Natalie isn't here to defend herself. But I can confidently say she wanted to be a Husker and wasn't asking anyone to "beg" her to stay. The coach herself said she'd had no contact with Natalie since a brief conversation the day she was hired. For what it's worth, I think you're right about the die being cast before Coach Yori resigned. But I think it's a different die than you suggest. Yori was given an ultimatum. That ultimatum was given prior to the date of her actual resignation. I would suggest it's that ultimatum that set the wheels in motion that lead to Natalie no longer being a Husker. It's not what you're talking about. What you're talking about you should not have gotten into unless you were prepared, in fairness, to tell the whole story.-1 points -
