  2. So, can someone do me a BIG favor? If there's ever anything worth really knowing about this kid as it relates to Nebraska basketball, would you start a new thread on him saying, hey, there's finally something worth really knowing about this kid as it relates to Nebraska basketball so it's time to check the thread on him again? Thanks in advance. Meanwhile, I'm going to assume we haven't offered, won't be offering, he's not coming, we can all just forget about him being a legitimate prospect. Until we hear otherwise. Which is when you start that other thread. OK? Thanks!!!

  5. I don't think Norm meant what he said. It was a poor choice of words and I think Norm will continue to check this thread in case something happens and it gets posted here. Has Mangok announced his departure from Louisville yet? And actually Norm, all you need to know is #Calibraska and that it's a movement. Just connect the dots and you'll be okay.

  6. ....and my, that was quite the run-on sentence there huh? I probably should have used a semi-colon or two, but the problem is I don't know the rules behind semi-colon use very well and don't want to get chastised for improper semi-colon use. Oh well.

  9. Nebraska Player of the Year Aguek Arop, F, Omaha South, 6-6/190, Jr. A verbal commit to the University of Nebraska, Arop was the key cog in Omaha South’s state championship squad. Captain of the All-Nebraska team and the state’s Gatorade Player of the year, the junior averaged 16.5 points per game on 62 percent shooting, also hauling in 7.8 rebounds a night.

    Will ever stop?

The answer is simply no, to many helicopter parents, to many travel teams that give kids and said parents this illusion that they (or their kid) is really better than they are. There has to be another reason someone is not getting playing time over others outside of them just not being good enough. Don't even get me started on not telling a kid no or god forbid correcting them.

Not necessarily true that any settlement would mean culpability or fault on NU or CY. If it is a large amount that certainly would be true. \However, sometimes it is easier to settle for small change than drag out for an extra year or more of legal wrangling (and cheaper). It could perhaps also depend on how much the parties want to stand on principle.

  13. I liked reading that report, it gave me some hope for some reason. I think Watson, Webster, White, Morrow, McVeigh, Jacobsen, Gill, Roby, and Horne are a nice core group. Fuller would make 10. Clearly you're missing some length in the post there - but I promise you guys - basketball can be played at a high level without a 7ft'er. Primarily, it's done by shooting the basketball well. And I think you're going to see significant shooting improvements from Watson and McVeigh specifically. In addition to White, I think we can be just fine next year - middle of the pack squad contending for a bubble spot. Be nice if we could add a graduate transfers at two roles - a dead eye shooter and a defensive paint clogger/shot blocker. But I don't think it's necessary for us to have a decent year. I certainly do not think it takes a wild stretch of the imagination to go from 16-18 to 20-12. Then you just see how the pieces fall. And a little luck and you're 21-11, 22-10 range.

  14. Well we did have a lot of different kinds of animals way way back. I think we had some type of rhino here when we Archie was roaming Cherry county. Close, Silver...Brown county: http://museum.unl.edu/research/vertpaleo/necounties/Brown.html *on edit* it appears that there were Rhino fossils found in Antelope County too...

  17. http://www.nblhoops.com/#!league-overview/tvtif The website reads like a truncated Private Placement Memorandum. I wonder if the idea started in/around Nebraska and has local money invested. EDIT. I need to find the article, but, on reflection, some of the player benefits seem similar to benefits Marc Cuban was pushing for the D-League. I bet there is an anti-compete clause in all franchise agreements, so I would be surprised if Cuban was involved.

  19. 19 regular season games left...we probably at the very least need to go 15-4 to get back into the At Large discussion. Hopefully they get back on the right path starting tonight vs KSU.

  20. TBA = Total Badass?! Need at least 2 more teams to have 5 league teams to make it work with a 20-game schedule for everyone such that each team will play the other 4 teams five times... unless they do unbalanced scheduling. Oh boy, I've thought about this way too much.

  21. Kind of sounds fun. This seems to be a sub league of the NBL Canada which I think is the league that Ryan Anderson did so well in.

  22. Really frustrating, yes, but there's still a chance. I don't know why this decision is so hard for him either. One article I think Robin had on him early on he specifically spelled out that he wants to go to a place where he has the best chance to play right away. The mysterious delay reminds me of recruits I've followed in the past who were either having grade or transcript issues. I don't have any information to support this, just a feeling.

  25. If we don't get this kid I may give up hope at ever landing a Big Man... We are basically saying... Jordy you can come in and play in the Big 10... No literally, we have no one else with your skill set and there is not a school in the country that needs you more than we do. Do you also know that we have one of the best practice facilities, and also one of the the best arena's in the country that is almost always sold out? I guess I don't get what the F*** goes on in these kids heads. His opportunity here is ridiculous, and he's possibly going to pick Minnesota or Boston College? I'd get it if it were a big name like Louisville, Syracuse ect... but no Minnesota and Boston College

  26. This stuff takes time. The ones leaving have to make visits. Things are happening behind the scene (which is where they should happen IMO). I wouldn't take "No news" at this point as being very significant or things aren't going to happen. In addition to the transfers, of which I'm pretty sure there will be at least a couple, it will be very interesting to see if Doyle and Cayton can be kept in the fold. I'm pretty sure coach will have a chance to "sell" at least one family, and I wish her the best in that effort.

  29. Well, nobody will confuse you with a Norman Vincent Peale disciple on this one! Perhaps it should be your job while you are watching to show at his games wearing scarlet, cream and the block N. And bring the little Kamdy Man. The little guy is in the opposites stage of life. Whenever a game is on he asks who I am cheering for and proceeds to choose the other team every time; especially Nebraska games because he thinks it's funny. I wouldn't want him to confuse Hepa any. ;-) Good call on the Hepa filter

  31. 100% correct, Silverbacked. Winning on the road is a result of high quality program culture that promotes consistency and mental toughness. How many times have we seen these teams the past few years enter a road game against a poor quality team, and drop the ball? Low energy, not in attack mode, you know the story. Hopefully we can right that this upcoming season.

  32. Biggest thing we need to learn to do to be better no matter who we have or get...We must win on the road. We have gotten some "easier" road games the last few years and can't win. But we do go to MSU twice and win. Please even those out and we are a 20 Or 21 win team.

  41. There is a comma, Normy; perhaps Ryan James should have used a semicolon. A semicolon would not have been appropriate there, as "his fourth of the day" is not an independent clause. Your semicolon, on the other hand, was perfectly used. :) Yeah, I realized that 1 of the two was appropriate; We all know the semicolon is an on-going saga on HHC. I'm not terribly proud about being the main reason for the saga, but it does make me smile from time to time. I've given three up arrows in the past couple days for their proper use. I'm a dork that way!

  44. By the way, I think you missed my point. Yes, I get how the subject came up in the last 4 posts. But if you're going to look for the thread that talks about transfers from our program, you probably won't be looking to find the discussion under the Chatrice White thread. Or even the Chartice White thread. I was just making a friendly suggestion to help facilitate discussion. I mean, how many people looking to talk about our potential transfers are going to look to this thread for that discussion?

  46. Let's be real...it was probably a dumb tweet by Miles but him retweeting or tweeting every so often doesn't interfere with what he's trying to do with the basketball program. If he fails to land a solid big man again it won't be due to him tweeting 2-3 times a day.

  48. Or maybe he thinks that White on this team would have reinforced more of a Natalie Romeo kind of work ethic --quitcherbitchin, practicesareseasy kind of attitude -- that would have prevented the kinds of chemistry issues that ultimately sank Connie's ship. I dunno. Sam will need to explain.

Good for Isaiah! I think there are several local kids who could play in the Summit. Glad to see UNO take a shot with him. We all know how difficult it is to get a center around here.
