I think that may be. I posted some info about Morrow about a week ago and can now post more. It does sound like things are in line for Ed to return thank goodness. He's definitely got his share of things to work on, the first being to get healthy, but his athletic ability and raw potential are sky high. Robin Washut basically put to bed the Ed Morrow transfer rumors with a tweet at the end of last week but with some information I knew, it wasn't a completely dead issue. I would feel incredibly stupid if a transfer announcement came tomorrow so as of right now, family and those in Ed's camp have him convinced that he should stay here in school and return to the team as he has been checking into summer classes. That's as of now and I would be completely shocked to hear an announcement of Ed transferring. Did people honestly think Ed was going to leave? Seems like a lot of rumors with little to no meat behind them. But if he was thinking about it, I question Ed's toughness a bit... Get healthy and you will get your minutes. It is unnecessary to question Ed's toughness.

  2. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the tweet from Miles about PBA being nice to him if he finds a big man and the news of Hammond transferring are connected.

I hope Trueblood ends up at UNO. They are really building a nice program at UNO with a lot of Nebraska kids. The Baxter Arena is a great facility.

  6. Except Petteway wasn't a top 50 recruit. I initially was referring to a player sitting out while still making the team better (than I threw in the "top 50" part but left TP in there). So, yes, you are correct Normy as Terran wasn't a top 50 player out of HS. I would say that he did play like one, though, for much of his stay in Lincoln.

  7. With Fuller hopefully they move him out of the post and but him back on the wing. I think being in a position where he was undersized really wore on him physically, especially with his shot. Either way I think programs like Nebraska can benefit from kids like Fuller who accept their role but are always working hard. Obviously you can't have a team full of Fuller's but I think we can afford to have one or two.

If memory serves correct, it was reported that Miles did encourage Benny to leave after Benny's freshmen season. Benny chose to stay, and Miles did not punish Benny for staying. I think the better way to put it is that Miles does encourage players to leave but does not threaten to pull scholarships. It would not surprise me if Evelyn and Fuller were both encouraged to leave as well but have chosen to stay. I personally like Fuller, but the only way he plays (outside of garbage time) is if Miles completely whiffs on all possible options. I remember understanding it like this, Miles basically told him he wasn't cut out to be a player in the Big Ten and told him he would have a much better chance at playing D1 Basketball at a lower level.I very well could be wrong but that's how I remember it and to me, that is just Miles being brutally honest not necessarily encouraging him.

  13. Ohio St had a 5 player class in 2015 ranked #5 in the country. With the transfers of Harris, Grandstaff, Daniel Giddens and Mickey Mitchell only JaQuan Lyle remains. I suspect that the Buckeye fans are a bit upset. If that happened here I'd have to shut down the site.

  16. Hammond signed with Nebraska after originally committing to Oklahoma. He'd played for four different programs in four years of high school, including his senior season at Class 3A Comanche, Oklahoma. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/article_ef454ec6-12cf-5aff-8951-2f016d4fd388.html Hope it works out well for Jake. He represented his school & program well in Lincoln. Solid kid with potential for getting better with a redshirt at his disposal.

  17. I anticipate Horne and Roby passing Fuller on the depth chart (we will know for sure come next fall) but there's always room for one or two hustle guys who bring it to practice everyday and do everything the right way. I mean you get 13 scholarships and only really play like 8-9.

  18. Nebrasketball could certainly use a talented 6'-4" guard who had been a top 50 recruit not that long ago. Seems to fit perfectly in the mold of transfers Petteway, White, & Gill of the past few years. GBR Except Petteway wasn't a top 50 recruit. 21. I envision a scenario where Jake sat down w/ Coach and asked for a "no b-s assessment" of where he thought he would fit in next year at Nebraska. What Miles did tell him, or was able to tell him, regarding his future in light of our recruiting efforts probably highly formed his decision. But I doubt he was asked politely to more or less leave. By the way, what I'm getting at here is that we didn't need Jake to leave in order to add just ONE more player. See what I'm saying? Oh I agree. In fact I felt if we could add a solid starting center, Jake would add excellent depth to that position. That's true and I agree. But that wasn't the point I was driving at. If all Miles wanted to do was add ONE additional player, we already had room for him to do that. But now we have room for TWO additional players. And I rather suspect Miles isn't planning on carrying an empty scholarship this year. Now do you see what I'm saying?

Nope. Beat 'em like a rented mule. As it should be. For those who went to the game, did anyone wear an Eric Crouch football jersey just for spite? Yep, we did do that. No Crouch jerseys this time, but everyone was preoccupied with Keyshawn and Gebbia sitting in the front row. I was just waiting for a Crayton fan decked out in blue going up and getting our football recruit's autograph. Would have photographed that.

    Under Armour?

Is that a precursor to the UA umbrella at UNL?!? I don't understand why anyone would have thought that the NikeTown or whatever goes there has much to anything to do with our athletic gear provider. They'll let someone put in a JC Penneys if they get enough money for it.

  32. Yeah I don't think Miles encourages any players to leave. He and the staff just meet with every player individually after every season and give their honest opinion of where they fit in next year. From there, the player can take that information and discuss it with his family to decide what is in the athlete's best interest. That's the way I would do things and I am 99% sure that is how Tim Miles and Co do things.

I'm not sure he looked around at other schools all that much, as I believe he committed to being a preferred walk-on for NU pretty early before his senior year. He'd have a shot at UNO I think. He sees the floor well enough that he can create for others. Jump shot would need some work. UNO isn't too interested in playing defense, so no concern there. Just from watching him in high school, he seemed to be at his best in transition, playing a fast-paced game, finding teammates and driving, which UNO wants to do constantly. So I think he'd have a shot to play at UNO. Would need to make the most of the redshirt/transfer year, especially in developing his 3-pt shot. Agree with your comments about transition and a fast paced game. Wesleyan would be perfect for him the way they play.

  37. My biggest concern now is that we repeat the mistakes we did with Jake Hammond. We now have no true center on the roster which means we could land another freshman center that is forced to play even though they are not ready. And this doesn't apply to "reaches in talent" only, remember Hammond was a top 150 player and being recruited by Oklahoma who is now in the Final Four. Hoping for an impactful grad transfer big and either a frosh or a transfer big that must sit out a year. I'm confident that Jacobson is capable of playing backup minutes at the 5.

  38. I truly think a redshirt year would have done him wonders (assuming he put it to good use). Especially with how he seemed to struggle in the classroom, it would have been nice for him to have a year to adjust to being a student athlete at this level.

  40. Meh, what do they know? I know our team has some talent. I know our team had some holes this year that held back the talent we had. Our young kids will now be experienced, young kids. That makes a difference. Biggest jump tends to be the summer after freshman year. If we can plug that one hole, I think we'll really surprise people. The best seasons in Nebrasketball history have come when we were picked to finish last or close to it.

    Yori rumors.......

The rumors aren't directly basketball related. They have nothing to do with this year's record; Any discussion of a coaching change based on on the court performance would be absurd. Basketball-wise there is a long history of extraordinary success for this program. We have the freshman player of the year in the league and a highly ranked incoming class. There is nothing there basketball wise to discuss. If the record we had this year (nearly 20 wins and a .500 record in the league; not exactly a disaster) after losing 4 senior starters and then half the team to injury has people calling it a tough year creating a rumor mill, our fan base has become spoiled beyond belief. I don't know whether any rumors flying around are true, but I assure you if something happens it will have nothing to do with the past season, on the court performance in games, or recruiting.

  44. This is an interesting observation. If you could give the PGs (or any position) in the conference a grade of their skill and athleticism on a zero to 100 scale where zero is horrible, 100 is perfect, and 50 is average, the range of scores might be from 75 to 35 from top to bottom. Let's say. The guys at the 5th through 10th positions within the conference might be separated by just a few points. There might be more significant separation between the top 2 or 3 and the bottom 2 or 3. But the guys in the middle are going to be fairly close to each other. And probably more separation at the top than the bottom. The other thing is that there will be some cross-over in terms of where each team stands at each position. There might be a team or two that has top-third talent at each spot, right? But there will also be teams that have that one really good player but are just so-so everywhere else or that team that's pretty solid most places with one or two weak links (think of us this season not having that big man.) A team that has top-half talent across the board is probably going to find itself in the top third overall. So, for example, if each of our players at the 1-3 positions are in the top half of the conference, I would say it wouldn't be a stretch at all to suggest that we'd have an overall backcourt in the top third of the conference. I'm not quite ready to go that far. I'm more willing to say we're top third at SF and middle third at worst at PG and SG. That probably puts the whole back court group somewhere in the top half of the league. I'm comfortable with that.

  45. From Huskers.com: In addition, freshman walk-ons Tanner Borchardt and Johnny Trueblood will not return to the team in 2016-17. Borchardt, who joined the team in October in an open tryout will remain at Nebraska and concentrate on school, while Trueblood has not decided if he will remain at Nebraska to continue his studies or transfer after the semester.
