  3. So, you think the Bison will just release him from his LOI because a few power conference schools finally come sniffing around? I disagree. The best time to recruit a kid is BEFORE he has signed an LOI. Once he signs, recruiting efforts and budget are better spent elsewhere. Unless, of course, you enjoy tampering charges and NCAA violations. What makes you think he's signed an LOI? If he's signed one, I don't think it would be valid, since as a 2017 recruit, he's not eligible to sign an LOI until next November.

  6. The way Tai has persevered has been great, you can even just look back to the comments on here from the Villanova game to see how easy it would have been for him to give it up. To qualify for the Olympics the NZ national team has to win a 6 team tournament in the Philippines in July. If Tai wants to play he will definitely make the team. He would get to go up against Tony Parker and France in the group stage, as well as potentially Canada if they advance to the next round.

    Roby

I thought that since Roby is signed, I would place this in a new thread here. This is worth a view. First, there are a number of photos that are pretty cool. More importantly is the article that provides some good insight as to what we can expect over the next few years. I like this kid. Enjoy. http://www.saukvalley.com/2016/03/18/humble-roby-hungry-for-challenge-of-next-level/ach0fih/

If I was a big man

Well, I am glad Coach Miles is a bit frustrated too. We all know we need a big, we all want a big, but only Coach Miles can land us a big. It is time.

    Roby

Sounds like we have a good replacement for Shavon lined up. Roby should draw his share of "I- like- that- kids" before he is done here. I just hope he is another four year guy.

  13. Every extra game Indiana plays is an extra chance that Crean has a stroke on the sideline.Ok, maybe that's a bit harsh...

  14. Anyone else get annoyed when players on the bench put their arms out and pretend to hold each other back from going on the court after a big play? Just had to get that off my chest.

    NCAA Tournament Thread

Two of my least favorite coaches. Seeing Huggins knocked out in the first round was great. Calipari losing always puts a smile on my face. Watching the game one thing I noticed and it was just one play, but I never notice our guys doing this. Yogi drives to the basket, draws a big man to him, and Bryant runs to the rim. Maybe we do it more, but just don't pass it to the guy down low. It seems like anytime Shields or Tai drove, we would have our other 4 guys standing out at the 3 point line, or standing and watching. Jacobson or White need to go to the basket for an easy dunk or lay-up. I think Morrow is one guy that will do that.

  19. Regarding #43: The procedure will be in Lincoln by a doc associated with the University. We met the surgeon's colleague, a University doc/surgeon, after a game in January. He was very impressive and very optimistic about resolving Rachel's chronic patella tendonopathy. It's out-patient, and it's set for 29 March. We'll see how it goes.

  20. Nice recap of the season Don.It sure went by fast. Some areas I'd like to see improvements in for next year: -turnovers.All season, with few exceptions, the ladies were alarmingly careless, lazy with the ball.Odd for a Yori team. -rebounding.It appears the team works on this very little.I would hope that's not the case.I noticed in the game against UNI, when a shot would go up,many times our girls would stand and watch or quickly begin heading the other way. It's as if they expect every shot to go in,or someone else's job to get the rebound.Again, something we haven't seen in the past.Think Emily Cady and Hallie Sample. -injuries and conditioning. As I mentioned in an earlier post, people above Connie need to gain control of this situation.I don't know if it's practice habits, equipment,or what, but when a program has the injury issues that this team has had for years,I can't help believe that they're doing something wrong.I may be too "old-school",but when I hear coaches and players, especially in March, blame losing on the length of the season,it's just a cop-out.Funny how you rarely hear winning teams talk about how long the season is. -lastly,it's time to recruit! Comparing our team to say Maryland,or Ohio St,it's painfully obvious that they have more "difference-makers" on their rosters than we do.You change that through recruiting.Hopefully our youngsters, along with the incoming class, can provide help here.

  21. Hey I never left! Im always here just lurking in the background. Ive been watching as many games as possible and from an outsiders view you guys should be real excited with some of the pieces that are going to be around for the next few years

  22. Just for contrast in New Zealand the shot clock is used for basically all competitive games for players older than around 13. The international standard of 24 seconds is used and while maybe some of the younger players could benefit from a longer limit I think in general 24 seconds is fine for most teams and levels. Also while occasionally there are issues with finding a suitable person to operate the clock I would say 99% of games would have no controversy surrounding the shot clock so this should not be an argument against its implementation.

  24. First I want to say coach York is a good coach but this injury plague has gotten old. There are too many years where there are multiple injuries and she needs to figure out what her and her staff are doing wrong!!

  25. Miles got his pants pulled down, on a Sunday, no less, by World Herald NU hoops beat writer, Lee B. Seven partial columns along with four color photos, with stats, of Miles big-man flops. Smith 6-8 254 two seasons, 10 starts, 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds: Vucetic 7-1 238 played 34 minutes in two seasons: Abraham 6-9 252 22 games 1.6 pts and 4.4 rebounds and Hammond 6-10 235 Started eight games in two years 1.7 pts 2.2 rebounds. Then Lee B lays into Miles big-man whiffs he couldn't sign. E Robertson 7-1 290 started 4 frosh games at LSU 0.5 pts and 3.4 rebounds, soph year started seven games, 2.4 pts and 2.1 rebounds, Chukwu 7-2 226 Providence freshman 2.6points and 2.4 rebounds and Atewe 6-9, 235 1.5 pts and 3.4 as a freshman. Miles now trying to line up Jordy Tshimanga 6-11 260 lbs. Has played much basketball until the last four years. Has lost more than 40 lbs. Miles one day seems all hyped about post season play then cites the democratic process between the players and the administration as the reason they don't want the opportunity to go on regional or national tv and play in a post season tournament and end the season closer to.500. With the NCAA tournament comes get-togethers and stories start to creep out after a few beers. No doubt many are bs, but with that much smoke there is at least a few sparks of fire. Miles poor- decision process may not be limited to stupid t-fouls. Things arent adding up! I dont see him lasting past next year, and may be looking this year. Just sayin.
