Does Jim Delaney and the Big Ten have a reffing problem?
Silverbacked1 and one other reacted to lefty_g for a topic
If it was only one coach that was complaining about not getting any calls, it would seem like sour grapes. But now Nebraska, Penn State and Northwestern have stated publicly that they get no respect because they are not an "A list" program. Penn State's coach went ballistic and got tossed at Michigan state I believe, Northwestern's coach basically said that the refs didn't have the "guts" to call the travel at that end of the game, and Tim Miles came out pretty much saying that same thing. Could get interesting but nothing will probably happen other than these three schools will never get a 50-50 call again.2 points -

Watching Horne's highlights reminded me of some of the tweeners Wisconsin always has. His game reminds me of what we have seen out of Vitto Brown this year and I'm okay with that.2 points -

Sipple has a bit about Florence today, he apparently has made a recovery - so great news It doesn't really give a time line on the surgery, etc, so it may have happened a while ago - the foundation's fund-raising golf tournament is coming up, so that may be why he wrote about it today more at: http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/sipple/steven-m-sipple-riley-s-belief-in-inclusion-helps-explain/article_d3213037-fbae-59d1-9a34-37025b1d8476.html2 points -

Seriously, what does he weigh? Is he 6'7" and 135? He looks very under-fed. I'd say he's about 160, but I've never been a professional weight guesser at a carnival2 points -
Couldn't agree more about the CBS coverage. They have all those college analysts but prefer to bring in NBA guys who don't know some of the teams let alone the players and coaches. Watching Charles Barkley try to do the touch screen was like me trying ask a girl out in high school...just plain old awkward, uncomfortable and downright embarrassing. No reason it should take 2 hours to release the entire bracket. Glad to hear someone got a hold of the bracket and release before CBS could.2 points

2016 PF Jeriah Horne - Signed

Hey looks like we have a winner here. Like that he has a three point shot and isn't just an undersized kid that works really hard for his shots around the rim.2 points -
I commend to your reading Tom Shatel's column in today's OWH (hopefully someone can link) on the Husker Greats Foundation. It mentions that the Foundation is assisting Larry, who is fighting cancer. Details weren't provided other than that he recently had surgery. Larry first said that help should go to someone who needed it more than him, but Dave Humm (who as you probably know has dealt with MS since the 80s) called Larry and encouraged him to accept the help. Thoughts and prayers for Larry, who was a 4 year starter for the Huskers.1 point

Observations from Nebraska State Tournament
Miles ahead of the rest reacted to basketballjones for a topic
Board members who observed the most beautiful thing the state of Nebraska offers - what were your thoughts? I'll go first! Players: • A. Arop is the real deal. Love his game. Beautiful stroke, long, athletic enough, adds an element we don't have in a beautiful midrange game. Plays hard, great teammate. Will need a year or so to adjust to actually playing help defense and gap/pack principles. Concerns - health. I don't know why, maybe because of his injury, but he just looks like he has bad knees. Hope I'm wrong. • Ed Chang, please come to Nebraska. Something about that shooting stroke and ball skills at his height make me think he could be special. Along with Arop, needs a professional to work with him in the off season on lower body development. Those super long, tall dudes can develop knee problems if they don't develop a love for the weight room and body development. • David Wingett- you guys know my stances on Nebraksa kids. Take a chance on them before taking a chance on someone else. Thoughts from the board - what is holding us back? Grades? Anything else? He's a lefty who can dribble, shoot from anywhere (it's developing), and he's athletic enough. Much like Arop/Chang - needs some serious weight room development. But he's a legit 6'7", 6'8". • Caleal Walker - grades are the issue I believe. Will have to go to a JUCO. Can he go to a prep academy? Like Khyri Thomas? Needs some work on his stroke, but his athleticism and instincts are incredible. I'd be developing a relationship with the young man and just seeing where it goes. Maybe he turns out to be a player? You never know... The basketball I hate zone. Nebraska needs the shot clock. Although the shot clock might encourage more teams to play zone. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Elmwood-Murdock put on a fundamental offensive clinic vs Winnebago at the Devaney. Beautiful to watch. That's all I have for now.1 point -

He reminds me alittle of Jarrod Uthoff from Iowa. When Uthoff was recruited, he was 6-8 and 190lbs. Give David a couple of years and he could grow another inch or 2 and put on somes pounds and you never know what he might become.1 point -

Ron Mexico reacted to HuskerBB for a topic
The article regarding Northwestern is interesting and informative. I can certainly understand why they (and us) would decline the CBI or the Vegas tourney. With Northwestern it sounds like the administration made the decision and took a little bit of heat from some of the fans for it - but at least they stepped up and acknowledged that it was a decision of the administration.1 point -

Going forward we know that an 11-7 Big Ten record won't necessarily get you into the NCAA, and 8-10 with 20 wins overall doesn't guarantee the NIT.1 point -

Couldn't disagree more with Jones on Arop. A great stroke? Really? Midrange game? As of now, this guy can't shoot. Or handle it. He's Kyle Marks. Athletic guy who is too small to play the 4, and doesn't have the skills to play the wing. At the highest levels they won't let him get to the rim, so he better develop a shot. A huge project to develop a game to go with the length and athleticism. I'm hoping we're getting past the need to do that here. Having said all of that, Jones has forgotten more about hoops than I'll ever know, but that is really what I saw this week.1 point -
Will do thank you. In defense of my grammar I typed the whole post on my phone so that's the excuse I'm going to role with.Norm is saying you need to be a part-time grammar cop if he ever goes on vacation. He wasn't commenting on your grammar. So, you're good!1 point
