Nebraska basketball fans are unbelievably loyal. Nebraska won 19 games two years ago and it was like a religious revival. Nebraska is 11-22 in the Big Ten the last two years. That there is 9,000 fans in that arena, much less 14,000 fans, is a testament to the arena and the fans who fill it. Not the product on the court.4 points

Yes, appears to be virtually a done deal, and we should know soon. The player is a grad transfer from a major power program who's already had a lot of success at this level and would be immediately eligible. He'd be a game changer. Fingers crossed... I don't feel comfortable posting the name here, because I'm not sure it's a good idea, but it would be a phenomenal addition.3 points -

That there is 9,000 fans in that arena, much less 14,000 fans, is a testament to the arena and the fans who fill it. Not the product on the court. I'll disagree slightly that it's not about the product on the floor. Everything is relative. If you look at the quality of basketball, the product on the court this year is light years ahead of the last couple years under Doc. I loved Doc but the basketball was nearly unwatchable. Slow, grind it out games and no real athleticism on the court. This year the quality of basketball was fairly good, the offensive flow was better than the last few years (including the NCAA team two years ago). The W/L results aren't what we want them to be and if that's the only way you judge the quality of the product on the court, then the quality isn't good. However, most of the games we have played have been fun to watch and the level of play and athleticism is significantly higher than the past few years (except for two years ago). I find it funny to hear all the gnashing of teeth going on about a team that essentially lived up to the preseason expectations. Nobody expected us to be in the NCAA's this year and everyone predicted us to be about a .500 team. I don't remember anyone saying the freshmen were "Fab 5" types and going to be the saviors of the program. They were definitely the most heralded class we have had in years but I don't think any of them were Top 50 players in their class (except if you include Andrew). It's comical seeing the writers comment about how the class didn't live up to the hype and how the season has been a disappointment. At the end of the day, we brought in a solid group of freshmen, played to expectations and appear to have a solid nucleus of players coming back. We clearly need more and better big men and to continue to improve but the foundation appears to have been laid for the future. Are we exactly where we want to be at this very moment - NO! Should we settle for what the results are today? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But I don't see why people are so upset/surprised by where we are right now. Maybe I'm just missing something.3 points

It's a big part of the reason he's moved up the ladder the way he has. Our offensive efficiency and eFG% have really taken the jump you'd expect from the 4th year of a Miles coached team and they're going to increase next year.2 points -

I don't get it either. This guy is a major Chicago connect. I'm not sure we get the new blood without him. Defense is not our problem at all. Personnel is, and he's helped tremendously in that department. Tai is the most improved defensive player I've ever seen at UNL, and that improvement happened under Molinari. Offense will come if we get a true 5.2 points -

Noticing on a few boards that I've toured recently that there's a lot of Molinari hate out there and I'm not sure I understand where that's coming from. I don't think I've ever seen an assistant coach get blamed for losses in the history of Nebraska basketball. Until these days. I've seen posters step in and say don't blame the officials, but I've never seen anyone come to the defense of an assistant coach. Someone want to explain this to me? OK, Molinari is known for defense and we get blown out at home by Purdue. Is that Molinari's fault or is that a function of the fact that Purdue is a balanced team and we don't have anyone who can defend the post by himself? (Ed Morrow actually did a pretty damn good job of it, though.) Miles has often said you try to take away one thing that the other team does, but you can't take away everything so you have to kind of pick your poison. If you double the post, which we have to do, then you leave yourself exposed on the perimeter and a team like Purdue is capable of taking advantage of that. So, fine, take away the perimeter, and then Hammons is going to get dunks on the inside because we simply have no one on our roster who can cover him without help. Thanks a lot, Molinari.1 point -

I never thought Molinari was the cause; I thought Smith's departure was the cause. Molinari is Smith's replacement, so he catches the flack for not bringing the same things to the table that Smith brought. That isn't fair though because Molinari's strength's were never the same as Smith's strengths. Now, a fair question may be whether the team is actually benefiting from Molinari's strengths.1 point -

Yes please don't as I don't think it's anywhere close to being a done deal and we wouldn't want to ruin anything considering he is still part of a team. The name...if true, we will all be very happy. Yeah...we're not anywhere close to being done with the academic calendar in any university that I know about so "done deal" on what you guys are hearing is a poor choice of words though hopefully a deal like this is in the cards for Nebraska.1 point

People see us getting beat by a rented mule down low and thus far we don't have solution for that going forward. If we can sign a big man that can help next year(5th year transfer)...I think that will calm alot of fears going forward. We will likely be predicted to finish anywhere from 10th-13th in the Big Ten next year....will that make it okay since that's where people expected us to be? Not for me...we should at the very least be on the bubble this time next year and at the very worst...make the NIT. Sam's point remains no matter what the style of play is...most schools with Nebrasketball history and a team that is 11-25 the past two years in conference play is likely not close to selling out their building. Absolutely agree with Sam's point about how great our fan support is. Only thing I was challenging was the quality of play comment. Without a doubt our fans are awesome and support the team better than most would with similar results!1 point -

I dont think he needs to be a major contributor, and would assume the staff doesnt as well. His production next year will more or less be similar to what we see from McVeigh this year. A game here and there that he really fills it up and then a few games where we dont hear his name at all then a bunch of games where he does a little bit of everything on the stat sheet but nothing over the top. His sophomore year will more or less be the year he probably becomes more of a contributor and his Junior year will most likely be THE year for him where people are amazed by him. I have said it many times but he is very much a Kyle Anderson from his days at UCLA but feel hes just a year or two behind him at the same age. Give him those 2 years and think we will see a similar player on the floor and in the stats page.1 point -

I could certainly see Miles situation being related to Painters situation. Miles seat seems hot right now in some eyes (certainly not mine I want to add), but if he manages to win a tourney game next year or the following year... People will want a statue erected of him! Painter had some young talent and pieces a few years ago that made them competitive though they were losing. They had a nice couple older players but also some nice young talent that has developed. We seem to be in the same situation.1 point -

Stupid narrative in my opinion. Key recruiter for Watson and Roby. Our identity is GATA defense and Mo teaches it very well. We slipped on D a this year because of youth (and size) but they will be better. And yes we need offense too, especially shooters but I think you recruit offensive talent and teach defense. I liked Craig Smith a lot and I did not understand or like seeing Harriman go, but to me suggesting that Molinari is the reason for any of our issues is like saying that someone brings the weather with them when they travel somewhere.1 point -

I'm sure it's a big deal to those local bars & restaurants in the Haymarket & West Haymarket district. That's where I think this issue dissolves in that the city would be competing with those establishments for the beer bucks.. I can completely understand the economic part of both sides of it (pro: new revenue source, con: competition with local establishments). That said, having a background in economics, competition is a good thing, but that's another viewpoint for a different day. Even from a consumer side, economics plays a large role: prices for beer are so high because of 1. Supply/Demand, 2. Limited disposable income. What college student would want to pay for $9 beer when they could spend that money on Jimmy John's? More than likely, if they were the type of person who binged before a game or smuggled alcohol into the game, they're likely to continue doing so in either scenario. It's the "in game experience," "rowdy," etc. things that get me. I've spent many hours at hockey, basketball, soccer, football, baseball, etc. games and rarely, if ever, see any unruly behavior out of the ordinary. I'm completely open to others' viewpoints, but I just struggle seeing it on this part of the beer debate.1 point -

I can go either way on this subject, but I probably wouldn't buy a $9 beer at a game. I also don't see it as being as big of a problem as some people think. The ones who are going to get drunk and disorderly at a Nebrasketball game, or any other sporting event, are usually already drunk when they show up in the building.1 point -
