  2. Good spot for us facing Purdue IMO...they are coming off a big game vs Maryland and we have had a few extra days rest to get some folks healthy. I hope we continue to utilize the press because Purdue does not handle pressure well...at all.

In all seriousness I don't hate them. I kind of like the home whites. Although I will reserve judgment until I see them in action. I thought the tire tread's of Miami and Michigan looked dumb until I saw them. They kind of grew on me. Hopefully we'll see these more than the minimum 1 postseason game.

  6. They decide this somewhere in the late summer I believe. I'm thinking they'll mix it up and slot us with Virginia Tech though another road trip to Florida St in the "lol let's pit Nebraska vs hated Florida football rivals" is certainly in the mix.

  10. Had to flip to page 7 of this mornings OWHerald to find the story.Guess I'll have to look elsewhere to see the rest of the all-conference team,as the OWH didn't post it. When the mens team is announced, they'll probably list the 1st through 3rd teams, with their favorite songs, quotes from coaches etc. What a sham. Imagine the coverage if NUs men had the freshman of the year that was also 1st team all conference.

  11. After Coach Self left some doubt as to the finalization of a home-and-home deal between NU & KU, last night on the Nebraska Basketball Show Coach Miles confirmed it is a 'go' for games in 2016 (Allen Fieldhouse) and 2017 (PBA).

  12. A little bit of Norm Peterson perspective before we move on from this topic (hopefully for good): All those who said we hit rock bottom, please stand up. OK, St. John's, under HOF former player Chris Mullin, is 1-19 over their last 20 games. The skid began 20 games ago with a home loss to Incarnate Word. Followed by another home loss to New Jersey Institute of Technology. (No, I'm not kidding.) They just lost by 41 yesterday at Creighton. Chris Mullin was ejected with over 13 minutes to play after picking up his 2nd technical. They have 8 wins and one game left against Providence before their regular season mercifully comes to an end. Those who still think we've hit rock bottom remain standing; everyone else, sit. If you're still standing, feel free to walk to the nearest exit. You needn't come back.

    B1G tourney bracket

The win last night was one of those team unifying feel good moments. I like where we are at. The Rutgers game looks like a 50/50 for us but more practice time with the dose of confidence we picked up will pay off. We just need to be competitive and make the WNIT where we will get quite a bit of additional practice time. Should give the returning players and coaches a good look at what we need to do during the off season. Team chemistry will be very important. You can already see N. Romeo becoming the big leader going forward. She is showing her complete game and inspiring those around her which is great for a sophomore.

  14. Nebraska Cornhuskers (14-15) vs Purdue Boilermakers (22-7) Date: Wednesday March 1st, 2016 Time: 7:00 p.m. CST Arena: Pinnacle Bank Arena Capacity: 15,000 Broadcast Information Television: BTN Online: BTN2Go Announcers: Dave Revsine and Shon Morris Satellite Radio: Sirius (Ch. 145); XM (196) Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Matt Davison Purdue Pregame Talk Purdue Info Head Coach: Matt Painter Location: West Lafayette, IN Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Boilermakers Mascots: Boilermaker Special, Purdue Pete Last time out: Beat Maryland Typical Rotation Depth: 9-10 Line: Purdue by 4.5 4 Factors: Dominating on the boards, vulnerable handling the ball Tempo: Middle of the road Last Time out AJ Hammons went bonkers scoring a career high 32 points to go along with 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. This game featured back and forth runs up through the second half and the Huskers had the lead down to 6 with 7:22 to go in the game after an Andrew White 3. Purdue went on a 9-0 run over the next 5 minutes to put the game away for an eventual 15 point Boilermaker victory. Four Huskers were in double figures led by Andrew White's 18 points. Miles Presser Shavon and Benny Presser The Skinny With wins here and vs Wisconsin at home Sunday Purdue has a decent chance at earning a 4th seed and a double bye in the B1G tournament. Given they'll have to take out a tough Wisconsin team, they're coming off big win over Maryland, and they've already walloped this Nebraska team, expect the motivation level to not be at maximum. Tack on that Purdue hasn't been playing well on the road and this is senior night and we're looking at what should be a tight game tonight. On defense once again the name of the game is how to defend against the inside effort of Hammons/Haas while also accounting for the three guards hitting 40%+ from 3. What are you going to get from Jacobson, Hammond, and Morrow tonight? Probably a lot more than you saw in January. Will it be enough? Nebraska will need to know their Purdue players as you can double off of guys like senior transfer Johnny Hill, defensive specialist Raphael Davis and bad shot taking Caleb Swanigan (see below). Last game Davis killed us by hitting 4-5 from downtown. Will Purdue get that again from a guy who hasn't made more than 1 on the road this year? On offense the biggest question mark is the shooting shoulder of Andrew White who is 6-27 since having it wacked before the Ohio State game. No doubt Shavon Shields will be shadowed by all-B1G defensive player Kendall Davis so the secondary scorers of Nebrasketball will need to step up. Who will it be tonight? Expect the Huskers with a full lineup to run and pressure tonight against a Purdue team that everyone in the league knows has turnover problems. Can they speed up the game in their favor? Can Nebraska force enough turnovers to make up for the rebound advantage that Purdue is sure to enjoy? Prediction: Nebraska 75 - Purdue 71 with a 91% chance of Runzas Click here to view the article

  15. Why not Big 10 refs? They'll let you go at it without calling a foul! Then, after about 1 minute, they will decide that if either person touches the other, it is a foul.

  20. I am crazy! But at least one media timeout per half is eliminated by going to the 4 Quarters. Doesn't the break between quarters just equal what would be a media timeout?

I'm thinking they'll mix it up and slot us with Virginia Tech though another road trip to Florida St in the "lol let's pit Nebraska vs hated Florida football rivals" is certainly in the mix. I'm thinking they may avoid a NU-Va Tech matchup because we are already in a non-con tourny with them. It could certainly be FSU again or maybe Wake Forest

  22. It's a great experience. Good fans. I taught for four years at KU, and they're to basketball what Nebraska fans are to college football. But if you see someone in a Pugh, Kellogg or Hunter jersey, smack 'em upside the head.

  23. While we may get our butts handed to us next year...it's better than playing Deleware St IMO. Yes! There's a chance you come out with a win @ KU... I like that small chance better than coming out with a loss @ Home to a team like Samford.

  24. Coached both sexes for quite a while, and don't want to sound sexist ....and this is just my own very general observations...... There are exceptions to every thought of course. Girls do generally have less of an ego to deal with. They also are generally less aggressive and want positive coaching. But do seem to want to learn, and accept coaching more easily. There isn't typically as much competitiveness among teammates. Want to play together as a group. Need to teach them to play with more physical presence....play not as girls, but as athletes. Building confidence is essential. Guys, by their nature may be are more aggressive and physical in their approach to sports. Guy's can have a tendency to play as individuals, where girls want everyone on the team to excel. ....but team chemistry is utmost in both cases to be successful as a team. Developing chemistry, other than X'& O's, is probably the coaches biggest responsibility to develop. Indiana seems to be a team that has real good chemistry....maybe not so overly talented.... but play together well.

  27. I think the person who did felt we hit rock bottom again. I think the person who bumped it this year did so because he's not a fan of the Big Red except maybe on football Saturdays.

  28. That's been my complaint for years as well. It even happens to the women's VB team at times and they are a regular top 5 team. I have been a sports fan all my life and prefer watching women's bb over men's. Call me crazy but they just don't have the ego problem as much.

  29. Shields hasn't been getting that call since the Michigan State game. In my opinion, Shavon getting or not getting that call has been the difference in a handful of games.

  30. Do I see Hammonds just standing around in the back there not doing much and making his teammates work? Some things never change... Even when you switch sports!

  31. I saw what the bracket would look like if the tourney started today. We were matched up with Rutgers and if we won we would play Ohio State. If we moved up a seed and got out of the playin round we would be paired up against Purdue. Idk about you guys but I would prefer Rutgers/Ohio State over Purdue.

  36. Probably not good if we can't get him on campus. Only 1 more home game left. I'm not sure we would even have a high enough seed to get a home game if we made the NIT. We might have to reel him in in lieu of a game day atmosphere. Spring game maybe? I'm not sure. Keep grinding Coach Miles, keep grinding.
