Dimes, perhaps this should go in the College Hoops forum, but I thought it deserved mention on the main board as Nick is a visible and talented basketball/sports guy in this state. Thoughts and prayers to Nick, who is undergoing surgery tomorrow for a chest tumor (Thymus gland I think), which will need to be biopsied to see if it is malignant. He also had a couple of strokes over the last 3 months, which have caused lots of vestibular problems. Bittersweet times, dealing with serious health issues while his wife and he brought a new daughter into the world just 3 weeks ago. Hoping for the best for this young man.

He's gotten as many technicals this entire year as Calipari did in the first 2 minutes of their game last week against South Carolina. So, no. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I'd suggest allocating a portion of the time you use to worry about Creighton and UNO towards the B1G.

What???? What does that even mean? Better than what? If you're excited about a CBI invite your expectations for this program are WAY lower than mine. I don't want us in some rinky dink tournament with a bunch of no-names, and frankly I don't care how "beneficial" the extra practice time would be. I see, so it's better to deny extra practices and game experience for our underclassmen because they should instead be made to sit at home and reflect on the damage they've done. They should be ashamed of themselves! That'll really teach them to not suck so much next time, won't it!!!

I see them about as an equal right now looking at their results in Big Ten play. Their only conference win against anyone not in the bottom 5 of the conference was their last win against Michigan, who since shooting so hot against us went cold and got their doors blown off at home by Indiana & Mich St. Basically their conference resume looks like ours expect they've been able to pile up more wins against the cellar dwellers. Scoring Differential in B1G Games Minnesota +15 Illinois +2 @ Northwestern +9 @ Indiana -25 Rutgers +26 @ Maryland -35 @ Purdue -11 Penn State +20 @ Illinois +5 Maryland -5 @ Wisconsin -11 Northwestern +8 @ Rutgers +10 Michigan +10 Essentially the only thing they were able to do that we couldn't was beat Northwestern at home. (Our win over MSU and their win over Mich sort of cancel out.) And I think most of us would agree that we are a much different team now than we were when we played Northwestern back in December even without Shavon playing. I see this being a very competitive but winnable ball game if we play our game.

We will need to win out....and likely get 1-2 wins in the Big Ten to sniff the NIT at this point. Probably not going to happen. Hopefully we can just finish .500 or better and get into the Vegas 16 or the CBI.

The other thing with that graphic comparing Jess to EDD her freshman year is that Jess is playing in a much tougher conference.

That is breaking news that his brother had knee surgery.

I've heard that he was going to visit this weekend but is not going to now. Apparently, his brother is going with him on his recruiting visits but is unable to travel right now due to a surgery that he has had recently. He will visit at a later date. At least, that's what I've heard. (source, B+)

I disagree as think we can finish 3-1 down the stretch and get a win or two in the Big 10 tournament and still have a decent shot at NIT bid. If we go 3-1 in our last four games, we would finish the year 17 - 14. Not saying it will happen but that would still put us in the conversation at least.

Agree on the track meet. If Minnesota guards give us trouble what will happen against the faster guards from O.ST. Every once in a while when nobody thinks you have a chance a big upset happens. Keep your fingers crossed.

Mitchell will get her points no matter the player guarding her and Alston is a major threat. OSU will be way too much for us in Columbus. Not very many good match-ups for NU.

-Free throw shooting was terrible. White missed the front end if two one and ones badly. Jacobson also missed his first two. Both of them are both really good ft shooters. I don't think we made our first one until like 5 min left. -I see a trend where Tai doesn't seem to score alot until the game is out of hand. Then he gets really aggresive. We need him like that the entire game. -Hammond missed a dunk and another make able shot. But he rebounded and screened well. -McVeigh had a good offensive game. -Needed more from Watson in order to pull off the upset. -Same for White. He can't just get his average if we are going to win without Shavon. He needs 20+. -I swear Indiana had 7 or 8 and ones this game. -We need Shavon back, Morrow too. -Pretty much what I expected with missing two of our top 8 players.

Tough game for the young guys to play in. We were playing one of the better offensive teams in the country on their home court. It's kind of like our game Saturday against Penn State. They took control to start the 2nd half. The difference was Penn State seemed like they didn't have the want to in trying to comeback. I really hate Crean. The guy is a dick. How can he get people to play for him. You barely get into a game when you are up 20 with 1:30 to go in the game. Plus, your scholarship can be pulled from you if he finds a better player. At least Miles gives you the option. You might not get much playing time, I think you can get it somewhere else. Our young guys struggled on defense. Watson and McVeigh were abused a bunch. Need to work on that. I like what they bring us on the offensive end. I feel that we can teach them how to play defense. We probably struggle to teach them how to shoot. McVeigh had a good game on the offensive end 17 points on 11 shots will work. Need more out of Watson, 6 points on 12 shots will not work. I hate to say it, but we needed more from White. I know he had 15 on 11 shots, but while Shavon is gone, we need him at 20+ a night.

Watching highlights. One thing that we need to do, is learn who to run out on. We ran out on Williams, who is a 31% 3 point shooter. He dribbled right by us for easy baskets. You got to go out to guard him, but under control, so he can't beat you on the dribble.

We should have tried this make-free-throws offense a lot earlier.

I haven't noticed. Do Nebraska fans actually think that refs and ESPN have it out for us?I just assumed every fanbase felt like the refs always screwed them. actually I think the refs are doing a descent job other than all of the fouls they have called on us.

for a team missing a vital cog, I think we played pretty inspired ball that half even with the final meltdown. who knows how we deal with it after half? I'm proud of the guys, as always. going into IU's house and kicking them in the jimmies is always fun. Here's to a 2d half miracle! GBR!
