uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 5, vol 28, Illinois

      First Half:

      - Is there a team that runs the odd man break worse than the Huskers?

      - Ray was having one of his "on" halves. Need it in the 2nd if they want to stay in it.

      - Rivers looked fine.

      - Like the battle these guys have on the boards.

      - Illinois not shooting lights outl ike they did in Lincoln.

      - Still no sign of Almedia. Heard he was healthy, also heard he's still not athletic enough to hang with the likes of Egwu. Actually, I didn't need to hear that...

      - Illinois getting a fairly decent amount of open looks from the perimeter. Not a good recipe for success.

    Second Half:

    - Illinois was stuck on 39 for a while, NU couldn't take advantage.

    - Shields and Ubel making a couple of beautiful passes.

    - Huskers hitting some big shots in the second half.

    - Games like this why Gallegos will be among the minutes leaders next year.

    - Illinois hitting some big shots too.

    - For a guy that was thought to maybe not even play, Rivers was pretty crucial today.

    - Been a couple of times when NU could stretch the lead and took some pretty poor shots in those situations. Gallegos and Rivers, specifically.

    - Parker basically reduced to five fouls right now.

    - Talent disparities vs. NU and opponents most apparent at end of games right now.

    - ESPN box says Vucetic got in. Did I miss that?

In the end, it's another close game vs. a very good team on the road. Another game that gives fans hope for the future, but got to think it's really frustrating for the team. This is three games they could have won on the road vs. some of the best teams in the conference.

this one hurts, because it was everything we needed to win minus a coupe of prayer 3s and a couple of Ubel blows late and....

this is the kind of game that reminds you of how much of a grind this season has been.

Great effort but I'm not into moral victories.  How does Ubel miss a wide open dunk like that???  Basically we are a 2 1/2 man show today with Talley, Gallegos, and Shields and we still hung with them.  All this does is get more excited for next year and start getting Miles players in here.  Hard to win games when you can only play 5 players.  Gotta admire the effort of our starting five.  I tip my hat to these kids for continuing to complete hard.

Perhaps the boxscore could not decipher between #11 & #14.

NU only played 7 guys, and Tyrance barely played

I saw him in the boxscore early in the first half, long before Tyrance got in there.  ESPN isn't known for their most accurate in game box scores...

The team played hard in a losing effort hopefully we are done with that after this year.  Need to start making them wins since they count either way.

The moment I knew it was done was when Ubel missed the two-hander.  A momentum play that had to be made.  Not the first time Ubel or someone else has missed the momentum swing this year.

    Back home with Minnesota.
