uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 5, vol 24 - Indiana

      - Huskers did a good job of playing their tempo early. Sticking to the game plan Miles described all week.

      - Not many bad shots other than Gallegos quick 3.

      - Did a decent job of getting some favorable match-ups

      - Both teams active on defense.

      - Thought NU did a good job of communicating on defense.

      - NU needed points after Andre and Brandon picked up two fouls and Zeller and Watford were on the bench. Didn’t get any, still led 10-6

      - Indiana stepped up the pressure and NU couldn't handle it. 15-4 run followed.

    - NU did answer the run, however. Talley single handedly kept NU in this thing.

    - Indiana got in the bonus less than 8 minutes into the game. Only had four after that.

    - Not sure I like the reinsertion of Ubel when he was put back in with two fouls.

    - 0-8 from three in the first half.

    - 10 turnovers, 0 assists in the first half.

    - About as poor a start as possible to the 2nd half for NU.

    - I’d comment about the second half, but IU just wore NU down, not much the Huskers could do. They fought as long and hard as they could. This is how the top team in the country is supposed to treat teams like Nebraska.

Hard to win a game when:

    - foul trouble is the theme

    - turnovers mount

    - rebounds are hard to come by

    - we spend so much energy just getting the ball across mid-court

Talley had a decent game, especially in the first half.  Apparently we were fighting some sickness?  We did do a nice job for the first 12 minutes of the game.

    Disappointing, discouraging...but not surprising.

I think I will watch San Diego State v. Colorado State @ 9 p.m. and dream of teams to come!

While telling myself, If you can build the Rams and the Bison into teams that dance...it will happen here!

Unfortunately, it does not just happen. It is typically a 4 or 5 year process....even this Indiana team, fueled by their traditional past, took time under Crean.

    I can feel it!

HB, you are right, other than one elbow jumper, it appeared that Benny was a boy against men tonight.  Shavon wasn't much better.  I kind of liked the game Rivers played tonight...if he can continue to get stronger, and improve his game as he did from last year to this season, we will be shaking our heads during his senior season wishing that he had redshirted.

Really glad I had to leave for class right after the first half. Talley played great in the first half.

So what do you do for all the Wednesday night home games?  Just want to know where your priorities are at...

This may not be a great time to bring this up after they won tonight, but does anybody else think that Zeller is a little overrated?  Now I'm not saying he's awful or a bum.  But the thought of him being one of the best players in the nation, I don't get it.  Yeah he is tall and a good athlete, but he doesn't really seem to do much.  I don't think I've ever seen him take a jump shot and it's not like he's a force inside.

    I don't know, maybe it's just me.

I haven't watched a ton of Indiana basketball this year, but based on my limited views, I share your sentiment.  Really good player, but perhaps overrated if he is considered great, the player of the year, etc.

Maybe I'm way off, but I thought Parker played better tonight than he has a lot of the year. I saw some positive signs.

Ya I think your way off!!!

Way, way, way off.  Sad thing is he wasn't the only one who had a bad night but thought Parker played aweful.

If you base it on just this game, I would agree but if you have watched him played over the course of the season, you would probably think differently.  He is very athletic for a 7 footer but I understand your point as he's not a dominate force like one might expect.
