uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 11; ed 4 - Missouri St.

      #24 Huskers overwhelms Missouri St 85 - 62

Nebraska takes care of business as expected

    - I'm cool with the increased emphasis on taking 3's, but let's not settle for them. Felt like we did a lot early.

    - Glynn got a little sloppy at times, which was a little uncharacteristic.

    - But man, his shot is on point right now.

    - Husker defense is really good. Missouri St. had trouble getting any good looks. Everything was contested.

    - Palmer's got a little hitch in his stroke from deep.

    - Super solid minutes from the bench, all four of them.

    - Copeland was a huge matchup problem for Mo St.

    - It's fun to have more than one scoring option on the roster.

    - Liked the press at the end of the half.

    - Glynn has been the cutstopper this year.

    - Free throws, ugh...

    - Allen's defense has been a nice revelation so far this year.

    - Mo St. is pesky.

    - I'd be cool if the coaches told JPJ to not take another 3 for the next few games.

    - So far on this season, Cope has looked more like an NBA player than JPJ has.

    - I like a lot of what I've seen from Nana so far this year.

    - That roby block and Nana 3 in transition is the kind of thing that demoralizes teams like Mo St.

    - NU went on a 12-3 run after that. If Mo St. throws that thing down, they're energized, down 11 and you ever know. Instead, NU hits a transition 3 and is off to the races.

    - This is kinda what you expect in a game like this. Mo St. was hungry early and hung on, but NU's depth and talent was just too much in the end.

    - NU will get a chance for a really good win tomorrow, regardless of opponent.

By the way, I read Chris Heady's write up of the game in the Omaha World Herald.  The following paragraph appeared in the article:

"Over and over the Bears stormed back to keep the first game of the Hall of Fame Classic close. Until consecutive threes from Thomas Allen and Isaac Copeland midway through the second gave Nebraska enough breathing room to survive in a 85-62 win."

Mr. Heady must have watched that game from a different perspective than I did.  Perhaps I am misreading his intent, but I never felt we "survived" in this game.  Whatever.

It's a different read than Leebo

Let's be honest here, Heady has some big shoes to fill. I get the feeling at times he's trying a little too hard to be unbiased. I think he'll be good in time, but it's gonna take him a little time to get into his groove. He's also a KU guy, so that's kinda like someone from Nebraska taking over the KU football beat in 2007.

If we win tonight it will be our first tournament win since the San Juan Shootout in 2000

We have either been bad or not a road team for too long. Saw the poor play on the road come out a little last night hopefully we can get that monkey off our back tonight. If you want to know my thoughts on the game and what tonight will look like they're right here.

Lots of Mo State highlights in this BTN video. Maybe Chris watched only this, which features 13 MSU buckets and 11 from Nebraska:

I watched this earlier and thought it was weird.  Especially since it was Big 10 highlights...

twas a good win against a team with some talent and pretty good coaching that plays quality defense and has multiple scorers. that was a game last year's team could've lost, or at least won by less than ten.

fans really have a serious case of Stockholm syndrome when it comes to hoops. This team is legitimately good. We'll learn to accept that in time.

Lol, I had just watched that and came to the forum to complain about it. Such a misleading cut up. #fakenews

Like... even if we would have lost the dang thing, I would still expect BTN to show more Nebraska highlights than Mizzou State.  Maybe that is Jim's next big addition to the conference...

That's insulting.  OUR conference network showing basically the offensive highlights of an opponent we SPANKED.  The Bears made 11 FGs in the 1st half and BTN showed 6 them.  Including one they replayed 3 times.

Do you think they'd do that to Michigan or Wisconsin or Ohio State?

    What are we? Chopped liver?

Did anyone else think it was weird that Copeland shot the FT for that technical?

Yes.  I am sure the priority list is determined during practice sessions (ya know, analytics and so forth) but yes, that did indeed surprise me.

Was Glynn in the game? I would assume he would be our first shooter, but Cope might be our second most trustworthy free throw shooter.
