    uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 11; ed 17 - @ Indiana

      Nebraska 66 - #25 Indiana 51

      HOOSIER DADDY?!?!?

Nebraska leads the entire game beating their first ranked road opponent since the last time they played Indiana on the road.

      palmer.JPG

Well, that was about the perfect start to the game.

Roby's 2nd...woof...Changed the course of the half.

Couple bad possessions late in the half gave IU a little life.

How does NU finish the half? That may go a long way towards deciding this one...Not great as it turns out.

IU started the 2nd half the aggressor. Down to 5 point lead as of this typing.

Copeland needs to box out on that jump ball. He can struggle with that at times.

JPJ with some questionable shot selection.

Tanner Borchardt had himself a night.

That sequence where JPJ missed the bunny that turned into a Glynn 3 might have been the game changer.

The answer after IU cut the lead to 5 was a work of art.

The zone was effective once again.

Good to see Nana and TB in the 2nd half more.

Better defensive effort tonight. Hope that carries over. Saw much more of what we saw early in the season.

Really controlled nearly this entire game. Huge win for some many reasons!

Thursday sets up for a monster opportunity.

Man, we sort of curb stomped them in retrospect.  We got up early, was able to fight off a couple of runs, we beat a good Indiana team on the road.

    - A lot of people, a lot, gave up on this team.  Good grief, get a grip.

    - Roby is playing better and better.  Man he got hit with a couple phantom fouls again tonight.

    - A lot of people were sort of bashing on Cope.  He had a very good all-around game tonight.

    - Tanner...atta baby!  What a tough S.O.B.  That may be his best game of his career.

    - Brady is over-matched, but we knew that was going to happen, right?

    - James had an okay game.  Nothing great, other than that dunk at the end of the first half.  That got us the momentum going into the half.

    - Glynn was a stud tonight...flat out stud.  That steal from his stomach was amazing.

    - Nana is rusty.  We need you my man, get your shot back.

    - Tom was quietly fantastic tonight, obviously on offense, but he had a very good defensive night tonight.

    - Bad offensive stretch in the first half...the good news is that we fought through it PLUS we played defense during the period.

...and oh yeah, GREAT job rebounding tonight, and GREAT job on the defensive end.

Hey Mr. Moos, thanks for being there.

Palmer has 11 points, yes okay for him.  But his 9 RB, 7 assists and 3 steals were great.  I’d still say he played really well even though it didn’t show in the points column.  I’d prefer he got more assists, the team plays better and his individual drive and shoot game get better when the rest of the team is involved.

This has probably got to be one of the strangest successful seasons from a fan perspective.

The two game losing streak put a lot of fans on edge (reason why i havent been on here the past week or so). Hopefully this reminds those fans that its a LONG season. Dont live and die by every game... or half... or possession for some of you lol.

I was hoping to split this week. If we come out 2-0 idek what I will do! GBR

He also had five turnovers.  The ball is in James hands a lot, so we can anticipate some turnovers, but a couple of them were somewhat reckless; that is why I said he played okay.  He also played good defense.  So perhaps I should have said he played good...not great, but good.

Harris lost 20 pounds and needs time to recover, Nana has been sick for a while now, and we are still happen to be the 15th team in the nation in offensive efficiency. We have five guys who can put it on the floor and shoot the long ball as well as four guys that can post up their position. We have one of the best starting fives in all of college basketball. Talk to any opposing coach. They will tell you we are a nightmare to game plan for and we are good enough that even when they come upon a good game plan, it won't always be enough as we still can get the win. That's how talented those 5 guys are. As players get healthy they will play more minutes. Until then sit back and enjoy what we are able to send out on the floor.

I can't like this hard enough.

We're fine folks.  13 wins in mid-January is pretty freakin' remarkable.

Think about this little tidbit.  We haven't come close to having each of our players playing well during the same game.  Last game it was Isaiah.  Tonight it was Glynn.  We still have a lot of room to grow this season.  That my friends is exciting!

The closest game would be vs Creighton if you want a better game than that? Well I think this team is great but that was an incredible performance.

Clemson was a pretty complete performance.

GREAT to see Nebraska respond tonight on both the defensive end and glass. The EFFORT we didn't see the last couple of games was clearly there - especially from the start. This team came out hungry, with fire and READY TO GO on the defensive end.

Of course, starting 3-3 helps bring energy on defense, but I think it was more than that. This team look VERY prepared. Miles and staff deserve a lot of credit here.

Palmer played like a man possessed on the glass and distributing the basketball. Still takes dumb three pointers in second halves of games when we are up with 15+ on the shot clock when he is chasing points, but his positives WAY outweight his negatives.

Borchardt was nails. Watson the same. Allen some big shots. I think watson is my POTG tonight.

I said the other day that some of our defensive woes from downtown were bound to even out. They did with a good team missing shots.

I also said we'd finish 10-10 in league but more likely 11-9. This win all but guarantees 10-10 (barring injury) and a win over MSU all but guarantees 11-9 (if not 12-8).

    GBR!!!

Never been so happy to be so wrong on a prediction. If the teams' results had been reversed, this board would have been on fire with comments on how badly we had been outcoached and how our team had just given up on the coach at the end of the game. I find reading the board tonight to be rather refreshing.  G'night all.

That should happen either way. In my book we are already ranked 13th before this game. Hoping for a top 10 match Thursday.

    A Quad 1 record of 1-4 doesn't really scream a #13 team.

But with that win, we're now 2-4 which is moving us in the right direction. Still many more opportunities to improve on that.

3-4 is plenty good for a top 15 team

That was one of the best games I’ve ever seen Glynn play. I died when he got that steal from the floor.

If things go well this year, Allen is our unsung hero.

Classic 8.5 minute scoring drought during the first half.

We were really struggling during the first half scoring drought, Copeland looked at everyone and slammed his hand on his chest - everyone got out of the way - Palmer punched the D, kicked to Copeland and he cashed a 3. Thats senior leadership. Next possession, Palmer ends the half with a man drive. Glynn leads us all game. Bortchard plays like a fantastic game under pain. Senior leadership.

We have to get more from the bench. Did Palmer or Watson come out of the game? Did Tom Thibedeau take over our squad?

A no-return conference road win against a top 25 team?  It doesn't get any better than that.?

Nebrasketball is 6-4 against the Hoosiers since NU joined the Big Ten. That's pretty, pretty, pretty good.

What a great win! One of the best parts is we beat the zebras also! They were awful. I can't believe the man crush the stripes had for him. Phantom calls on Roby, Palmer, and Cope! Even though the game was over, that out of bounds call on Roby was AWFUL. Surprise, surprise, the call favors Romeo. Also, Cope's 4th with 4:30 to go was trash as well.

But enough complaining, what a hell of an effort! Such a fun game (and team) to watch. Let's keep it going. Thursday just became that much bigger!!

Totally agree. Makes it even sweeter to curb-stomp IU at Assembly Hall.

LET THE PLACE BURN TO THE GROUND!

TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, FROM HIM MUCH IS EXPECTED

    Reading some posts......

I don’t know if anyone ‘gave up’ on this team.   Expectations are high and should be. As you saw tonight we can be awesome. So when we lose then I think people have the right to ask why (most of the last 20 years the answer has been that we aren’t as good as our opponent....not the case this year). Pretty ballsy effort by Miles’ crew after our last two games (although Iowa may actually be really good).  GREAT WIN!!!

It is a LONG season. Most of our games will be a dog fight. ‘We before me’ needs to be our motto every possession. We aren’t there yet. We can be.   Matt Painter’s comments after Purdue miss to Norte Dame a few weeks ago

    https://twitter.com/andrewpogar/status/1074074179643760640?s=12

I want to have expectations of making a run in the tourney like back in the days of Derek Chandler and Tony Farmer. Not just making the dance and crossing my fingers at an outside shot at a W.

I expect us to win win at home against Michigan St.  We will shut hem down in transition and their big boy will be sitting on the bench in foul trouble early. We will guard the 3. That’s what should happen. I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t because I expect it from these guys
