uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 10 - Creighton

      20adf1d70e.jpg

I got to see exactly none of this game. Listened to a little of the second half. Sounds like I didn't miss much. Disappointed there wasn't more of an effort in this one.

The only thing I've got is that I've been doing the volume, edition thing wrong in my title. I think I fixed it.

Not much to say...other than we got schooled.  And frankly, I do not believe they have better talent.  They did a good job against us with an inside out offense and we simply were schooled time and time again.

Low post defense isn't good, which leads to three-point defense being not so good.

    Rinse, repeat.

Might be time to give up a little on the defensive end and work on scoring more.  We need shooters.

They don't have better talent. They may very well have the better coach though. At least...when it comes to head to head match ups.

They once again have better shooters who play well in a system that gets them looks.  We supposedly have two shooters that never are open.

They always have the advantage of playing loose, with a nothing to lose attitude for as long as they are on this run against us.  Creighton has gotten into our heads and will continue to spank us for as long as we let them have that mental edge.

It's not talent.  It's not coaching.  It's all about what's in the head.  It won't surprise me to see IUPUI waltz in to Omaha and give them a game, and Oklahoma to beat them by 40.

Kudos to them for cultivating that advantage, but the sooner we recognize that, the sooner we can move on and do what's important to us, namely compete for tourney berths and moving up in the B1G ranks.

Congratulations to Creighton, enjoy it as you go on to finish 9th in league play.  As for me...I've moved on to URI.  GO BIG RED!

This team is going to struggle on the road in Big 10 play.  We are too young.  The freshmen were awful tonight.  3-16 from the floor.  0-3 from 3.  2-3 from the free throw line.  8 points between them.  Plus, terrible defense.  McVeigh, Watson, and Jacobson played awful on that end.  Need them to show up, especially on the road.

Poor effort from the start.  Miles struggled tonight.  Let them shoot over 50%.

We have to get to the free throw line.  13 attempts is not enough, especially 2 in the 2nd half.

We have no shooters except White, and he missed open looks early to stop some runs.

We struggled down low.  We knew we would.

Hammond is our best post defender.  I still think he is going to be good before his career is done.  Groselle is a senior with one post move.  He would seal the defender on his left hip.  The entry pass would go to the baseline, and he would make an easy lay-up.  You have to learn to defend that better, and get on his right hip forcing him to go to his right.

all in all, this game wasn't going to make or break our season. i would much rather have beaten miami or cincy.

I can't even remember if you're the guy I usually agree or disagree with, but I agree with this so hard I'd like to facebook friend you.

The second part works for Norm.  But he'll never go for the first guideline...

Pedro said it best: Greg is Tim's daddy.

Pretty much. I'd feel more broken up about this if I hadn't seen it several times before.

I like MIles. I want him to coach here a long time. I like what we're building. I think we'll be more talented next year.

However, at this point when he says that Creighton isn't in his head, he's pretty much full of it.

It is getting past my bedtime but I am still recovering from the hornet enema I had while fast forwarding through the game. Can anyone tell me how many threes we hit tonight or, should I say White hit tonight.

Gotta say I was pretty disappointed by Shields in this one. 5 turnovers, 6 points.

Creighton took him away and he spent more time chewing on his jersey and cursing than rallying the team.

He was looking ahead to his long NBA career.  Maybe Miles will be his coach when he is snatched up front the college ranks.
