Honestly this was a louder and more into it crowd than the Creighton game

I was really concerned whether NU would be able to recreate the Chicago magic and effort. Still had too many memories of last year's trip to Starkvegas I guess.

As shorthanded as we are, we needed to play with tremendous effort, and we did. Couldn't be more happy to be wrong about that one.

Everything clicked again last night - we have to have Roby/Palmer/Watson score a bunch, stay out of foul trouble, and play at a high level, and they did. And we need the other guys to make the hustle plays and play without fear when they get their chance, and they did, especially in the 2nd half.

Very pleased for the seniors that they get to have a win in their 'second' final game at PBA. Nice that we get a few extra days off now till Sunday, maybe we get Heiman and Allen back?

And couldn't be more impressed with the coaching staff - for them to pull this effort out of this team with all of the outside noise going on is simply amazing. They all know what's coming, but they still are carrying themselves with the highest level of professionalism. Might as well keep the ride going for another 4 games.

Finally, Butler is your typical Big East trash team ... in more ways than one.

They’re playing in their old arena which now hosts women’s basketball and volleyball. It’s on campus. Their usual arena was being used for hockey that night.

• Watson - Became only 11th NU player to surpass 1,500 points in career scoring, also now 4th in career made 3s
• Palmer - Now 2nd in single season points at 689 - just 16 away from passing Hoppen for the all-time mark
• Roby - Career high with 28 points
• Trueblood - Career high with 6 points
• Borchardt - Career high with 1 technical that was totally worth it - I don't know what he said, but Butler's guys were really pissed and Tanner's smirk was priceless

they play in PNC, same as the Hurricanes of the NHL.

I think a lot of that had to do with the understanding that this was Tim’s last game at the Bank. Fans wanted to give him his well deserved props & tip of the cap. His “Go Big Red” at the end was priceless...

Well done to everyone who was at the arena last night. Players, coaches, and fans all represented Nebraska admirably. I can visualize this ending with Miles getting a less stressful job at a mid major and becoming a basketball version of Frank Solich. If Hoiberg is indeed coming, he has to be impressed by what he saw last night. Although I wish we had made the NCAA, the major cause of our downfall was an unavoidable injury and whatever happens at TCU will not make me remember this season unpleasantly.

I'm sure that was some of that but it was a perfect storm of a lot of things. We're talking about an 8pm game on a Wednesday night for one of the warmest day thus far. This is a team that has been a lot of fun to watch since March 10th. There were a lot of tickets available on the floor that usually available so a lot of excitement for a new view for a lot of fans.

Rewatching the game, as I went to the game last night.  Tanner's technical should have been a double technical on 22.  He kept pushing Tanner well after the play.  I saw it at the game and now realize I wasn't seeing things.  They spend 5 minutes at the monitor after the earlier technical, to add a technical to Watson.  Why didn't they even look at the play?  These refs were poor to say the least.  There is a reason they are a ref at an NIT game.

I don't think they added a tech to Watson.  The ref had two fingers on the other dude and on Watson as soon as he made the "T" gesture.  I think it was going on both of them from the letter "T."

Not sure what they were looking at otherwise...maybe to see if any of the other Butler guys deserved one?

I thought the ref motioned that the T was on Butler (pointed to the Butler player.  Nothing in Watson's direction), and then gave Watson the T after looking at the replay.

I don't think so.

That's what the announcers thought, but he pointed at the Butler player with two fingers to the chest, and he did the exact thing to Watson (you just couldn't see it that well because of the camera angle).

The ref had the biggest hit on that double T.. He cracked Glynn in the back pretty hard.

James Palmer broke Tyronn Lue's single season record of 547 FG attempts last night. Palmer at 553 and counting.

He's 11 minutes away from breaking Gallegos's minutes played in a season record
