    OFFENSE:

    F

The sad thing about this game was that Nebraska got the shot they wanted on offense about 70% of possessions, but missed that shot about 55% of such possessions.

The Huskers missed SEVEN layups in this game, including four in the first eight minutes alone. Had they converted on even five of these, they finish with a respectable 55 points against a team that is notorious for playing good defense.

However, even worse than this was the fact that NU got to the foul line just TWO TIMES the ENTIRE GAME. Yes, there were two missed foul calls that would have brought the total to six had they been called, most notably the obvious hack on B-Rich as he drove to the hole in the early stages of the second half, but even if those two had been called, six free throw attempts is still not going to get it done. Plus, there were two obvious no calls on Nebraska defenders who clearly fouled Wisconsin in the act of shooting, too.

Besides missing layups and not showing any sort of ability to get to the line, the Huskers had their typical scoring drought, too, as NU took nearly four minutes to score its first bucket in the second half, and only four points in the first six minutes.

What's even more pathetic, however, is that Wisconsin didn't score a field goal in the final 7:10 of the game and still found a way to win.

Nebraska finished at 35% for the game and 26% from downtown. Not going to get it done.

    DEFENSE:

    A

Nebraska played "A+" defense in this game, and clearly, the best they had played all season.

The Huskers held Wisconsin to a season low 31% from the field, turned the Badgers over 11 times in the games first half and after allowing 11 three's in Lincoln, Wisconsin had only two tonight.

Still, none of this matters when the next area is more empitent than a 100 year old male.

    REBOUNDING:

    F

Wisconsin had SEVENTEEN FREAKING OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS. SEVENTEEN. That's legal for sexual consent in many states. SEVENTEEN.

For the game, the Badgers out boarded NU by 14 (42 to 28) and if missing layups and not shooting free throws weren't enough, then not boxing out on free throws were, or allowing the Badgers five shots and 90 seconds on one possession was.

Nebraska played soft and looked like a high school team versus good, but not spectacular Wisconsin big men.

I leave you with one AWFUL stat - Wisconsin points off of second chance = 17. Nebraska = 5.

    BALL HANDLING:

    B

Turning the ball over just seven times was outstanding. However, since "Ball Handling" is an extension of offense, I can't give the Huskers higher than a "B."

All in all, however, NU did well in this category, and the Badgers had just 7 points off of turnovers.

    COACHING:

    B

Doc coached a good game tonight. His team had a TREMENDOUS defensive plan and executed it in a near flawless fashion. Had his players made easy shots and boxed out, NU wins fairly easily.

However, on the other side of the token, this is year six, and these are all players Doc has recruited, and even though Wisconsin is at best, a borderline Top 25 team, its talent is still much better than NU's. That obviously is a major issue.

Doc drew up some really nice plays tonight, most notably at the 5:15 mark to get Brandon Ubel to the free throw line and NU's first (and only) free throw visit of the night.

Smart foul by B-Rich at the end of the half since NU had one to give. That obviously came from the bench.

Nice draw up in the final two minutes to get a wide open three for Bo Spencer out of a timeout. It wasn't converted on, but nicely done.

I really think Doc outcoached Bo Ryan tonight. NU was outstanding defensively and for the most part, as mentioned above, got the looks they wanted in offense. Problem was, that's where it ended.

    OVERALL GRADE:

    C

Since Nebraska hasn't shown any capability whatsoever of winning big games on even a semi-consistent basis the last ten years, you can in no way say they "should have won this game." That is false, especially on the road against a top notch program.

However, Nebraska surely COULD HAVE won this game and SO MANY OTHERS JUST LIKE IT in recent weeks, months and years. And to be honest, I'm getting sick of hearing "how hard we play" and "how the wins are going to come" after each of these. I don't see that.

Nebraska is catching both Indiana and Ohio State at bad times this week, and will likely finish out the seven days at 1-7 in the Big 10.

The 2011-2012 Huskers are going nowhere, and fast.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Dylan Talley

    SEASON TOTALS:

    Bo Spencer - 5

    Toney McCray - 4

    Brandon Richardson - 4

    Jorge Brian Diaz - 2

    Brandon Ubel - 1

    Dylan Talley - 1
