At first blush, this guy seems like he might be the best assistant hire Miles has made since after he was hired. So much for the rats leaving a sinking ship narrative.

Kenya was kind of a  beast when we got him.  Georgetown > Butler?   Kenya has some recruiting cred after some of his gets here.  If Lewis ends up being the best hire that will say something great about Lewis.  Molinari was no slouch when we got him either (even if he catches hell on here), from a reputation in the basketball world.  I love the Lewis hire, but from a "where's he at; what's he done" standpoint, I don't have him jumping out as the best hire.

Those were strong hires in those circumstances, yes.  I'm thinking more along the lines of he played for Bobby Knight at IU and left the school as its all-time leader in assists.  How many top coaches were point guards?  He's shown stability in his coaching stops and he apparently handled kind of an offensive coordinator role for a Butler team that was consistently in the post-season.  Plus, according to Dimes, he's a Recruiter with a capital R.

Offensive Xs and Os guy who is a strong recruiter.  And he approached Miles about the opening, not the other way around.

At first blush to me at least, this looks like a pretty good hire.

Seems like an indication of how far we've come in the last 4 years that we're arguing about what level of great this hire is. Credit Miles for doing what he does and credit the administration for putting him in a position to do it.

Whoever doesn't believe this is a home-run hire should look no further than the article in the Fort Wayne rag.

I'm all 'N' with Michael Lewis riding shotgun aboard the Nebrasketball freight train!! #LetsRoll

KNTK - Drop The Mike:  Is an offensive minded head coach the answer to Nebrasketball?

    • Michael Lewis says he was the “offensive coordinator” at Butler, can he fill the void left by Craig Smith?
    • Also, the Fort Wayne, IN newspaper rips Lewis and Nebrasketball in the process in the process on his way out

I was thinking during the guest Middle School concert this morning and could be that this guy has an ax to grind with Lewis.  Maybe there is bad blood so this guy thought this is his last way to get in his final dig.

    Just a thought.

There are people couldn't believe the Beckner would leave here for a lesser job like Boise State. Maybe he made a mistake;maybe he didn't.

Our offensive efficiency and eFG% numbers last year were the best of the Miles era.

If White is coming back those numbers should go up even if we left the spot vacant.

That being said I'm excited for the addition of basketball knowledge to the collective...which is the upside to the loss of continuity that replacing a staff member can bring.

They were wondering if maybe there weren't better options...

Worth a listen, good back and forth hashing through things.  BTW the wondering was about whether there might have been a guy out there with a 6'9" PF to bring to the table.

Also a quick look through the 3pa%, A/FG%, and Tempo between the last two years and Nebraska and Butler shows me fairly similar styles so Lewis adjusting to what we're doing and also adding in what he has been doing shouldn't be a huge culture shock.

What is your username and avatar again?

Hmmm...  I've heard that short-term memory loss is frequently a side effect, Dimes :P

Mitch, you usually seem like a decent and well-informed chap.

But ignorant people aren't reading the literary works of Ayn Rand.

In addition, a couple of years ago I posted a basketball topic that delved into some political issues.  One of the posters here got all butthur ... er ... indignant about it and asked me to avoid political commentary as it would tend to cause divisions within the group of fans who should instead be here in unified support of our team.

I've honored that request ever since.  I'd ask you to do the same.

Noted, but I have a bit too much self-respect and self-interest to silence my dissenting opinions.  Suppressing myself would go against the teachings of Ms. Rand, no?

Fast facts:  did you know Ayn Rand accepted both Social Security and Medicare?  She was bilking the coffers of the government like a welfare mother to pay for her mounting healthcare bills as a result of her two-pack-a-day smoking habit.  Hypocrite to the end.

I believe that we can be unified in our love of Husker sports (and hatred of all things Creighton) and still vehemently disagree on politics.  All of our blood runs red, even that which spouts from my bleeding, liberal heart.  My apologies for rubbing people the wrong way.  I will do my best to keep things more on topic.

Since we seem to be on this topic I nominate the following as the best front yard political placard I have seen: EVERYBODY SUCKS 2016.

Ya know Jimmy, most years I might say wait a minute, how can you say that but this year, I think you are being kind!

I think Tim likes to have at least one bald guy on the bench at all times. Since Smith and Harriman left, we have been a bit hirsute. Now if he could just convince Molinari that bald is a much better look than grey.

Speaking from experience I would say it's better grey than gone!
