Huskers to Play in Golden Window Classic **Update**

The University of Nebraska announces they will play in an event dubbed the Golden Window Classic hosted by Elevate Hoops.  The multiple-team event (MTE) will take place Wednesday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Nov. 29, and will feature games at both Pinnacle Bank Arena and the Bob Devaney Sports Center.  A MTE allows D-1 schools to increase their number of allowed games from 25 to 27.

The eight schools participating in the event includes at this time Nebraska, LSU, Saint Louis, Northern Iowa, Western Kentucky, San Francisco, Nevada and Illinois State. With teams playing 2-3 games each we're looking at anywhere from 8 to 12 total games. Given the tourney takes place over 5 days, we're looking at 2-3 games per day at 2 venues.

Currently the plan is to sell tickets at Pinnacle Bank Arena only, and capped at 25 percent capacity. Fans will not be allowed at the Devaney Sports Center.  Seems probable that Nebraska will play its 2-3 games at PBA.  At this point the broadcasts are up in the air which means we could see a combination of games televised on sports channels (ESPN, BTN, etc) or streamed via PPV.

    ** Update **

Illinois State and Northern Iowa dropped out of the event.

Chadron St was added to fill in a couple of games.

    ** Update **

Western Kentucky, San Francisco, LSU, Saint Louis, and Chadron St have all dropped out.

    North Dakota St added

Any home game we have will be televised it's just a matter of if you and I will have to pay extra for it.

I see that they aren't going to allow fans to the tournament.  Totally understandable.  HOWEVER....is it going to at least be televised, or broadcast on the radio?  Or are we just going to have to read about it the next day in the paper?

I'm sure it will be on Radio as it's a game.

Since their are no fans allowed and if the B1G permits it they should at the least stream it free or let NET televise it.

Hopefully more than just the Nebraska Games are broadcast in some fashion.  I'd like to see as much of the tournament as possible.  Big 10 could show it and do PBA on BTN and the Bob on BTN2.  BTN2 is honestly worthless they don't use if for situations like this and in most cases seem to show exactly the same thing on BTN and BTN2

This isn't a Nebraska event so the games that don't feature Nebraska will not be on the BTN and I doubt any of the Nebraska games as part of the event will be on the BTN.

Most every team in Div 1 is going to be playing on Thanksgiving week so I would expect that the majority of these will be on a a stream that one has to pay for.

The McNeese St game, which isn't part of the event, should either be on BTN or BTN Plus.

Fred said last night that they may move the start time vs McNeese to earlier in the day than usual to allow for TV.

Wednesday could be an all-day hoops day on TV on a few networks.

Posted the question on PBA's fb page about televised coverage and this was the response I got...and pretty much expected: Please “stay tuned” as that communication channel is secured.

Are we just playing the two games and calling it good?  Or do the teams with the best records 'advance' to play each other in a tournament final or something similar?  I'm kind of bummed if the only teams we play from this field are StL and SFU.

Edit: I just looked up KenPom ratings and I see that SFU is actually a top 100 team too, not just StL.  So I'm a little less disappointed, although I would've liked to see us get a shot at LSU.

From my understanding, it's more a round-robin type setting than a tournament type setting.  So you play your games and go home.  There's no "final" game.

So...St Louis is “withdrawing due to COVID”, but they can somehow still host a tournament? I’m confused.

I'd infer that our city's/state's lack of control of Covid is the issue.

It could also be that they would need to state a reason to withdraw so they don't have to pay a penalty or something like that.
