Report reply Handy Johnson 3,878 Posted March 11 Awesome, I just assumed the Anti-Nebraska Bias would relegate him to 2nd or 3rd Team. LNKtrnsplnt 1 Quote Share this comment

Report reply hhcmatt 23,122 Posted March 11 Joins an impressive list of guys who've been first team in the Big 10. 2024-25 - Brice Williams 2017–18 - James Palmer 2013–14 - Terran Petteway Rollie got the sportsmanship award LincecumFan, millerhusker and Handy Johnson 2 1 Quote Share this comment

I figured the coaches would vote him 1st team and the media would vote 2nd team, like they did with Palmer in 2018. Awesome season, Brice. Report reply hskr4life 12,294 Posted March 11 If there was ever a player that deserved the award despite finishing 16th out of 18 teams, it’s definitely Brice! Well deserved! Can’t wait to see what comes next. Quote Share this comment

Report reply hskr4life 12,294 Posted March 11 That's also now 5 All-Conference selections for Fred (1 behind Tim Miles) and we have had multiple draftees under Fred's watch too. Not bad for a team with a rough W/L record in that timeframe. Silverbacked1 1 Quote Share this comment

Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't mean to diminish the award, and I think that sportsmanship is still important and deserves to be recognized. In the last 14 seasons only 6 players on teams with losing records have been named to the B1G 1st team. Brice is the only one to be named to both the coaches and media 1st teams. millerhusker, CanadianHusker, Vinny and 4 others 2 4 1 Quote Share this comment

Report reply Navin R. Johnson 2,192 Posted March 12 Really a big achievement considering only 6 make it as a first teamer in an 18 team conference. Quote Share this comment

I'm not sure. On paper when you look at this roster alot of guys from major conferences and its not like we were the only teams who wanted them but it seemed like the effort at times was god awful. Either way it all goes back to the staff either they didn't assemble a good enough roster or couldn't motivate said roster. Absolutely no reason why you can beat teams like Creighton but go to places like Penn State and get blown out Quote Share this comment
