It is winter there so it might a bit chilly. Also love the uni's, too bad that is only their practice uni's.

Correct, these "unis" are their practice gear for the year.  Something to look forward to for the season, their actual uniforms are getting an upgrade this year also.

Few, but very productive minutes for Kalenta.  8/8 from the line for Jasmine, but 4 TOs and 2/7 from the field.  Brown and Ford are listed but not Stephens.  Did Amy make the trip?

    Well played, Row 6!

Interestingly enough with regard to Amy, we were in another country recently, on a hike, and some young ladies noticed my wife's Husker shirt and started firing up the Husker smack.  Turns out a couple of them had played for Coach Stephens at UNK.  One is now a Division 2 head coach in Minnesota.  Small world out there, and Husker fans are everywhere.

huskers may have still been going on adrenaline for the first game---maybe the combo of travel, time difference, and sightseeing caught up with them for that second game.    ;)

It was on u stream, Havers looked good l. She was driving ball and had a kickou to romeo who drained a trey. Simon was also driving the ball and got fouled a lot and the huskers were picking up full court and had a turnover from it.

Natalie Romeo scored a game-high 32 points, but the short-handed Nebraska women's basketball team dropped a 79-73 decision to Cairns at the Cairns Basketball Stadium on Thursday.

Romeo, a 5-7 sophomore guard from Martinez, Calif., knocked down five three-pointers and hit 11-of-28 shots from the field overall while also going 5-for-5 at the free throw line. Romeo was the only Husker to produce double figures, as Nebraska wrapped up a stretch of three games in three days after making the trip from Melbourne to Cairns on Thursday.

Junior post Allie Havers added seven points and a team-high 12 rebounds, while Maddie Simon and Jasmine Cincore each pitched in seven points as well.

Senior forward Anya Kalenta contributed six points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Emily Wood and freshman Rachel Blackburn both added five points. Redshirt freshman Darrien Washington rounded out the Husker scoring with four points while hitting both of her shots from the floor.

Even if we lose all four of the games on this trip we are getting invaluable early experience for the eight players with only one with any starting experience at NU and that was limited.  We have 1 senior, 1 junior, 3 sophs and 3 freshmen playing right now.  They are playing against older more experienced players on their home courts.  As for scoring by others beside Theriot and Shepard one thing to keep in mind is their great ability to pass the ball setting others up as they are double teamed.  There is also nothing wrong with balanced scoring where we don't have to hope someone is going to have a big night on a consistent basis.  We can't forget about Clark as well.  The thing i'm looking forward to is improved rebounding and post defense and early indications are that we will get that with this group.  Our biggest issue is to be healthy.

Cazzie I would disagree. You have to remember we are playing 4 posts equal 20 min. amounts in Australia for the most part.  They aren't going to put up scoring numbers that you are used to seeing during 30 min. playing periods. Several of the posts have scored 6-9 pts in 20 min. which would likely project to low double figures on extended minutes.  I really like some of their rebounding numbers also.

We'll also have 6-3 Ostrander in the post...for rebounding more than likely. I understand she was practicing with basketball team before they left for Australia. (as well as practicing with the volleyball team)  I see she was just named as co captian of the volleyball team.

if i looked at the vb schedule correctly, huskers wbb could expect 'O' to join anywhere from Dec. 5th-20th (hopefully, it will be the 20th  :D ). she will add to what seems to be a pretty strong set of rebounders: RB43, Washington, Havers, Kalenta, and, of course, Shepard. i would be interested in looking at the total stats for the players on this trip. maybe it will be in an article, or, someone could post them.
