Senior -- It is probable that Doyle will win Illinois Ms. Basketball.

Illinois has two McDonald's All-American's, two Jordan Brand All-Americans and Lewis winning Gatorade but the high school coaches and sports writers in Illinois are believed to be leaning towards Doyle for the statewide award.

Most of the voting for national awards comes from people who do not even see the high school girls play in their team environment.

Final voting for Illinois Ms. Basketball is done tomorrow so I believe we should know by Wednesday.

I think the top three in no particular order will be Doyle(Nebraska), Lewis(Ohio State) or A. Andrews(Illinois)

i was going to ask, just who does the voting for Gatorade Player of the Year? guess i've never really done any research on that award. if i heard the announcers correct (during Benet Academy's championship game) they seemed to believe Doyle has to be the leading candidate for Ms. Basketball, but, after seeing Lewis play (albeit one game) i could see how she might win it. easy to see she can really create her own shot. Lewis and Mitchell should be quite the duo for OSU.

maybe that's where Doyle might have an edge over Lewis---she seems to do just about everything well.

Lewis is a stud and has been for a long time. She is a scorer who happens to play the PG spot and she won a state championship as a sophomore. She is deserving of any award she has received.

With Doyle being the catalyst for back to back state championships and being the championship game MVP two years in a row I would think that would put her ahead.

Also Benet beat Trinity handily and Fremd by 3. On the same weekend, Fremd beat Young in overtime but bottled up Lewis. Trinity handily defeated Young.

In Illinois your state playoff performance can at times tip the scales.

I'm beginning to think if you bought the new edition of the Webster's dictionary and looked up the word "award" you might find Hannah's picture next to it. Miss Whitish was named unanimous AP Wisconsin girls basketball player of the year Friday.

Hannah Whitish — a point guard who averaged 24.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 4.3 steals per game this season and scored more than 2,000 career points — has been named The Associated Press girls player of the year in Wisconsin.
