Why not split the shots a bit more between Shield, Parker and Rivers.  Obviously Talley who has more shots then all 3 combined isn't getting it done.  Talley is shooting 35% on the season

Shields - 42%

Rivers - 43%

Parker - 40%

Even out the distribution more it will help out in the long run.  Talley is a role player taking on the star role and it's not working... There is no "star" on this team, and those three I mentioned need to take more shots.  Our offense is too predictable if Gallegos and Talley are shooting 50% of the shots for the entire team.

Just my 2 cents

Seems like Talley has the job to jack up shots as the timeclock expires! This probably negatively influences his shooting %. I do think that Talley takes some boneheaded shots, even when the timeclock is not expiring.

Talley has taken on the " Bo Spencer" role this year, with a modicum of success. It would be nice to have some others step up and shoot the ball, except Shields is OK at best, Rivers is worse, and Parker will hardly see the floor next year.

Guys I think you are forgetting someone... UBEL was the only one who made a three pointer the other night! :)  But seriously Ubel can drive and has shown the ability to shot.  Hopefully that confidence continues.

If Ubel plays his natural 4 position, he is a big threat on offense, when he gets the defender out around the free throw or three point line he can take it to the hoop and score points. And just like you are saying hskr4life, he can make the 3 ball as well. Really wish he was not a Senior he has turned into a dang good player.

Was talking to a guy who had an infected burser sack in his elbow.

He said it took a year to have in back to where he could swing a golf club.

So I would assume that it is still hurting Shavon.

I think he will have a better stroke next year when his elbow is healthy.

It looks to me that he still can't extend his elbow like he would like to when he shoots the ball.

Would like to see Ray Gallegos take fewer three pointers and more two pointers. So far this season, he is shooting 31.9 % from three and 58.1 % from inside the arc.

He was really hitting those 15 foot jump shots.

When his 3pt shot is off the mark this should be his backup (along with taking the ball to the rim)

If Ubes is taking 3s, we're in trouble. Maybe he has that stroke back from his freshman year. Until he can do it a few more times I'd rather see Peltz taking 3s because he won't be guarded anyway.

...and Ubel can be inside rebounding...

The threat of him hitting shots out there is big though.

I think it works in much the same way it works for Wisconsin....if you can't physically beat your defender and/or your defender plays poorly away from the hoop, then having Ubel pop out to the 3 makes sense.

I don't know how he's shooting in practice.

Those two makes did put him up to 27% on the year.

His last two years he has shot 25%.

His freshman year he shot a ridiculous 11-21 for 52%.

If I look at it from a different perspective, shooting 35% from 3 would lead the team.

Maybe him shooting out there isn't such a bad idea.

PS.  If Rivers and all them guys took more of the shots, their shooting percentages would go down.  Right now, they're only taking the shot when they have the best of looks.  Gallegos, Talley and Ubel have to generate offense and try to create shots.  This lowers their efficiency.  It's not uncommon for guys who shoot less to have higher shooting percentages.

OK, don't nobody look!  Just go with your gut impressions.  Which Husker has increased his scoring average during conference play (compared to the season as a whole)?

Don't cheat.  Just guess.

I'm going to go with Peltz he has shot it less then everyone

Ding ding ding, we have a winner.  Kind of a trick question.  And granted, it's way early in conference play yet, but everybody has dropped.  Except Ray, who has maintained his scoring average.  And Sergej, who basically put up his only points against Ohio State.  I was hoping to see one or two guys kind of step up.  That hasn't really happened.

In my very humble opinion, the current players that get playing time for the Huskers are average complimentary players.  This is not a rip on any of them.  But on great teams, they would play roles.  They would not be "go to" players or difference makers...it pains me to say this, but it is not even close.

So you are Coach Miles.  What are you to do?  You have 6 to 8 complementary players, who most of the time bust their tails.  Who do you give the ball when you need a basket?  Certainly you could rely on the younger players with the hope that they can find "game" and build confidence.  Or you could turn to the seniors.  I think Coach Miles (deep down) understands the limitations of this team.  He is attempting to honor the seniors and provide them their opportunities.  Not saying I am right, but it is certainly possible.

Talley has jacked up a bunch of shots despite being the desparation chucker as the clock runs out.
