Jess played without knee brace tonight and was shocking wind by end of game

Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Not playing for 10 months or so is showing. And the college game is much more demanding anyway than H.S.

Hope she can get in shape and not hurt her knee doing it. She seemed to look a little like she just didn't feel so great either ??

Nice game by the Huskers tonight. Maddie really seems to be coming on as of late. Kalenta has improved a lot over last year.

Good ball control in general. Handled the press well. We came out ready and alive...and good intensity after the UConn game. Nice response girls !

We ran our "run and gun" game well , but also could set up 1/2 court offense too.  Defense stepped up as well....a few phantom fouls called in the game.

NC St needs lots of work on fundamental skills...they got a little "physical" after they were getting run over a bit. (game got a little sloppy then) We were much more polished and skilled.

Good job in general...on to the next one.

I always like it when the team that's better at basketball wins the game.

Simon will soon be a starter.

Any body know where Ramacieri was tonight?
No mention of it in the post game.

So who will she displace?

I assume HUD is thinking Maddie will replace Kyndal, but I don't think that will happen.  Maddie had more minutes than Kyndal last night..

I'm wondering if Maddie might start instead of Clark sometime in the future.  Is Clark's knee bothering her?

I wondered if some of the girls were ill last night.  Theriot looked like she may have had a headache - we noticed she was pushing on her forehead a lot.  And my daughter thought she looked really annoyed about something in the first half.

Have I mentioned how much I like to watch this team play?

My wife and I were talking about the game on our drive home last night and she said that she thinks RB 43 likes games like the one last night where the ref let em play and it sure looked like it as well.

I see Ostrander is there with the team...not in uniform, but with the team.

yes, i just caught a glimpse on BTNplus. i wondered if that wasn't her and thought that was a bit odd---considering the volleyball tourney starts this weekend. i guess coach cook must have gave his blessing for her to be on the bench.

wow! is RB43 fun to watch!!! i know it's nothing new, but, what a game she had. believe she had 15 possessions alone she took away from NCState (rebounds and the charges).

was a little curious about jess---there were periods where, imo, she just didn't seem right. there were flashes of "the jess", but, i just thought something wasn't clicking---and, i understand, for the most part, they were collapsing on her. maybe a bug going around, i don't know   ;) . hope it's not the leg, and, i really don't think it is. can't see anything that would point in that direction.

i watched the game on BTNplus, and have matt and jeff on the radio. even if it isn't synched right, i think they are great to listen to. while watching, i believe jeff stated kalenta has been a scoring machine in practice. so glad it looks like things are coming around for her. she had very productive minutes on the court. was laughing at jeff---kalenta had another option of letting loose another3 and jeff sure was egging her on to shoot it.

btw, i could see myself agreeing with HUD about maddie simon possibly getting more and more minutes in place of clark. not that clark wouldn't be in rotation, just appears to me simon's game is on the upswing and clark's game seems to have leveled off---at least at this point of the season. maybe clark is getting a little frustrated with the 3 not coming around as well as she had hoped. i really hope her shot does comes around, but, hard not to notice the improvement in simon's game.

all these options---fun!!! next up!

Yes I feel that the person Simon will replace in the line up will be Clark.  Several reasons for that.  On several posts before the season started I pointed out that ideally you want some height, athleticism, ability to drive to the hoop and outside shooting at the wing position.  You will also be guarding these type of players once league starts.  I know last year we used Jeffery there even though she was of similar height to Clark.  That was because we were so limited due to injuries, players leaving etc.  Brandi stayed healthy and was a great rebounder for her size.  I can see Clark coming off the bench in relief of Theriot and Romeo with her amount of minutes depending on her increasing her shooting percentage and over all confidence coming off a big injury.  Also look for Wood's minutes to gradually increase.

On another topic I love the hustle displayed by Kalenta, Blackburn and Romeo.  Due to that fact that Theriot is so smart, experienced and smooth it is there as well but not so noticeable.  She just glides around.

Me Too!  If you find a way to sync it better (even if it isn't precise) let us know.  My radio (internet stream) was a couple of minutes ahead of the video stream - just too much differential to be able to enjoy (other than their overall excitement).  I was hoping pausing the radio would result in better sync, but No Joy!

The comment on Kalenta in practice makes sense, because you could tell she had the green light from Coach to let them go. No hesitation at all. What a fun game to watch. Superlatives for 33, 05 and 43. I geeked out over 43's help defense steal. Great hoops IQ.

I know many are fans of the crew calling the game, but I really thought it was touch fouls on one end, and bodied up with contact and no whistles on the other. Was annoying. If you're going to lay off the whistle, do so on both ends.

Have I mentioned I really like Natalie Romeo!!! So much fun to watch!

It's going to take Jess a little while to get used to dealing with the double and triple teams hence the reason she's a little inconsistent around the bucket. It'll come and look out when she takes that next step.

Anya, making a case for more playing time. Rachel T is...Rachel.

Great to see the intensity out of RB43! Once she gets the round ball to drop more consistently it'll be bad news for the B1G.

I think the starters will stay the same. Sure Kyndal has struggled with her shot but she's bound determined that she will get that straightened out and I've got no reason not to believe her. But also, on the defensive side of the ball she is our best defender out there and always matches up with the top scoring guard on the opposing team. Our coaches notice what she brings to the defense and they like that defensive intensity in the starting line up.

It's always fun to see how players have gained confidence speaking over the seasons when doing interviews. Four years ago Rachel T would do everything she could to stay away from the microphone. Fast forward to today, she's one of the more polished interviews we've seen since Lindsey Moore!

i had BTNplus on my laptop and listened to matt and jeff from huskers.com using my cellphone---i am trying to "guesstimate" on the differential---around 15-20 seconds? positive it was not even close to being a couple minutes. that would be pretty difficult to manage.

Is Washington still on the team?

Yes she was suited up.

She did not play against North Carolina Central, Southern, at UConn or against NC State (coach’s decision).  Wonder if she violated team rules, attitude or if she is not hustling in practice.

Had a great time watching the entire team.  Each game they seem to be getting closer to each other (as a team)...

The 30' bounce pass that Rachel Theriot made was incredible.  Her comment after the game was telling...  Something like...  I like sharing the ball with the players who don't get as much playing time.  That is a selfless teammate.  That is what a leader does.

Miss Kolenta is such an improved player (when compared to last year).  Miss Havers has such a nice jump shot.

Loved seeing Emily Wood make a 3...  We arrived about 86 minutes before the game and Emily Wood was the only Husker out on the court and she was shooting 3s.

Regarding 43...  If the refs "let them play" you'll see (from 43) much more of what you saw against NC State.  I've watched for years... Thursday's performance wasn't an anomaly.  It's who she is.  She has always liked playing defense more than offense.

Don't get me wrong in thinking Simon will start by conference time.  I like a lot of things about Clark and really want her to be a big cog with the team especially with her 3 point shooting.  But as a 5th year senior if she doesn't, do you invest more playing time in a true freshman with a big upside over 4 years or someone who will be here 1.
