Huskers Close Non-Conference Slate with Grambling State

The Nebraska women's basketball team returns from the holiday break to close non-conference play when the Huskers play host to Grambling State in Lincoln. Tip-off between the Huskers (9-3) and the Lady Tigers (1-9) is set for 7:05 p.m.

Grambling State comes to Lincoln with a 1-9 overall record. The Lady Tigers will look to snap a three-game losing streak that includes a 90-59 loss at LSU, and a 96-60 setback to Florida State. The game between the Lady Tigers and Seminoles was FSU's first game after dropping a 78-77 decision to the Huskers. Grambling State shared another common non-conference foe with NU, dropping a 73-55 decision to Sam Houston State. That game immediately preceded the Huskers' 85-72 win over SHSU.

Grambling State's other losses have come at the hands of Kansas, Wichita State, Fresno State, Liberty and Memphis. The Lady Tigers' lone win came with victory over Stephen F. Austin. As a team, Grambling State has been outscored by 26.2 points per game, outrebounded by 15.1 boards per game and carries a negative-3.9 turnover margin.

Nebraska leads the all-time series with Grambling State 3-0. Connie Yori's Huskers also faced Grambling State in her first game as NU's head coach. The Huskers notched a 63-40 win in that game.

*Jordan Hooper captured Nebraska's first Big Ten Player-of-the-Week award of the 2012-13 campaign after her 33-point, nine-rebound performance in a win over Oral Roberts. In her last 3 games Hooper has averaged 32.7 points and 10.7 rebounds. Hooper also used her 33-point effort against Oral Roberts to become just the ninth Husker in history with 1,300 points and 600 career rebounds. Hooper pushed her career totals to 1,314 points and 620 rebounds.

* Lindsey Moore passed All-American Nicole Kubik (563) and Jina Johansen (567) to climb into the No. 2 spot on Nebraska's career assist list after dishing out eight assists in Nebraska's win over Oral Roberts and trails only school record holder Meggan Yedsena (696) on the Nebraska all-time assist chart.

* The game could also be a milestone game for Coach Connie Yori, who shoots for her 200th win as Nebraska's head coach. She would become the first Husker women's basketball coach to reach the 200-win mark at the school. Yori enters Saturday night's game with a 199-129 record in her 11th season at Nebraska and a 394-269 overall record in her 23rd season

Huskers win it 84 - 39. Didn't quite know what to expect Grambling St is not good.

Hooper led the Huskers with 18 pts., R Theriot played the best she has played so far this year, she finished with 12 points and 3 assists. E Cady played a fairly decent game scoring 17 pts and grabinng 7 rebounds Again Lindsey was steady dishing out 8 assists to go with 1 turnover that Meghin Williams should have caught in 20 minutes of action. I like how Katie Simon is starting to progress. She had 8 points tonight.

Finished with a 10-3 non conference record could have been 12-1....... should have been 12 - 1. B1G starts next Wednesday as the Badgers come to the Bob. Need to start conference play out on the right foot and get the w.
