2018 SG Aguek Arop -> San Diego St

Recommended Posts

Watched him play today. He was ok. Not sure where we will play him. I also watched Chang. Chang is a wing. A fuel, I'm not sure. Chang didn't play with the same effort, especially on defense. My friend used to be the head coach at Hamilton and is an official for high school games now.

I'm not sure how quick Arop is but I think he will be a 2 or 3 for us.

Went to the game last night.  It was only one game, and I'm far from being a talent scout, but I don't see it.  He's long and athletic, but is not skilled and has a  bad outside shot.  If he would grow and play inside, I could see it.  But I don't see him being a wing at the next level.  I'm tired of guys who can't put it in the hole.  I realize what is tantalizing to the eye with this guy, but I don't see Power 5 wing skill here.  A huge project, and I'm not sure we need to go there anymore.

Tough spot to put Miles in because if he would go somewhere else and succeed, then people would nail him for not recruiting instate talent. Lose lose situation.

Are you referring to Arop or Chang here?

Aguek's athleticism is impressive and undeniable.

When he took it to the hole off the dribble from way out front, my thought is that he looked like Tai doing what Tai does best--only with greater athleticism.  That move, when it's available, is unstoppable.

Aguek will be great at NU!

It sounds like we're replacing Tai with Tai but it's a home state kid, which I think this program can't get enough of.  Hopefully he has the same work ethic as Tai.

I will start by saying I have not seen the kid play.  But lets say the guys here who say he is not a good shooter are correct, would you be happy with him being a defensive specialist. IF Gill, Roby, Horne (who has a nice touch on his shot), Watson, McVeigh and Marrow can shoot
