AuroranHusker
It marked the second straight year that Shields, who carries a 3.73 GPA in biological sciences, was selected as a first-team all-district selection. In addition, Shields, who is a first-team academic All-Big Ten selection, is also a nominee for the NABC Allstate NABC Good Works Team... http://t.co/PAu4MuoIDB

Red Don
IIRC, there are a number of Scholastic 'Achievers' on the team; including Trevor Menke, and transfer Andrew White! Kudos to all! (Academics may be one of the reasons Andrew White chose to transfer to Nebraska over several other teams vying for his services.)

Silverbacked1
So you guys are saying they would have gotten in to UNL even if they didn't play football... eh... basketball. And yes this is a dig at Michigan's Omaha trip.

Norm Peterson
Was Shavon an Academic All-American last year?
AuroranHusker
Was Shavon an Academic All-American last year? I believe it was the same honor, 1st team Academic All-District.
Huskerpapa
Generally speaking, our basketball program (the players) can hold their own in the classroom against quite a few schools out there. Shoot, Moses is a grad student (I believe Menke and Kye are as well). TP is on schedule to graduate, TSmith is a brainiac...I'd be more surprised to learn of any player on this team that will not graduate.
