Concrete Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 i hope gallegos is the last player we'll ever redshirt after he's already been in the program for 2 years. That is a clear indication of roster mismanagement BirdsOnTheBat and Norm Peterson 1 1
Huskerpapa Posted December 30, 2012 Report Posted December 30, 2012 My prediction>>> Next year Serg will either have transfered or he will redshirt.
FredsSlacks Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 My prediction>>> Next year Serg will either have transfered or he will redshirt. I think he's gone. Miles wouldn't even play him in the blowouts against oregon and creighton. I don't see Sergej being able to play in an uptempo offense, and I think that is the kind of offense NU is going to have the next couple years. Atewe will be more athletic and able to run the floor. --Atewe Visits NU a week from today.
Jurgey Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Regardless who stays or goes, you can't have 6'10 or 7'0 players who weigh 180 pounds and compete in the BIG. We need some meat and muscle. Norm Peterson 1
Norm Peterson Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Regardless who stays or goes, you can't have 6'10 or 7'0 players who weigh 180 pounds and compete in the BIG. We need some meat and muscle. True dat.
Swan88 Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Here is a highlight video of multiple players from both teams in a Notre Dame Prep v. Massanutten Military Academy game. Matthew Atewe is the first player highlighted (appearances are in alphabetical order by last name), and he appears in the first 30 seconds of the video. From this footage we can know, for what it's worth, that he had in this game at least six points, one block and one rebound.
TheKamdyMan Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 Im kind of sad he isnt wearing his space man goggles anymore. Not sure why he wore them but I havent seen him wearing them in any videos lately. I mean how cool does he look in this picture.
Silverbacked1 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I can't get in the rivals page but this was just tweeted by Robin Washut: Is 2013 PF recruit Matthew Atewe still on schedule to make his official visit to NU this weekend? Here's the latest ($) http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1456010 …
Huskerpapa Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/hoops-recruit-atewe-excited-about-official-visit/article_1ef2ec2a-52b8-548e-a082-a279fbef1c49.html
Norm Peterson Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I hate those teasers. It's one method Rivals uses to try to get people to buy subscriptions. "Is he still coming?" Oooh, he might not be. I wonder what the deal is? Better buy a Rivals membership so I can see ... that, yep, he is still coming.
49r Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Red Zone got anything up their sleeves for this one? Canadian flags this time??
49r Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 “I’m able to anchor the team defensively, like, block shots, rebound the ball, and just be able to score a little bit with my back to the basket,” Atewe said, noting his offensive game needs improvement. Sounds like he'll fit right in at Nebraska!
Swan88 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 The Rivals article linked above clarifies some recruiting priorities as follows: Nebraska "has Atewe pegged as its top high school option for the 2013 class. The Huskers have also been looking at the junior college ranks to possibly fill one of their two remaining scholarships for the '13 class, especially if Atewe decides to go elsewhere. That being said, NU has been doing everything in its power to convince Atewe that Lincoln is the place for him."
Silverbacked1 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Thanks guys. If a rivals membership showed up on the Visa card. I might be sleeping in my car.
colhusker Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 After three guys that lean more to scoring, a defensive body would be grand.
hhcmatt Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Atewe is on the way. https://twitter.com/MatthewAtewe41/status/287254742936215552
Red Rum Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Just a body to clog up the middle and eat some boards would be fantastic.
Norm Peterson Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Something tells me he commits while he's here.
Huskerpapa Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Something tells me he commits while he's here. I hope...
hskr4life Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Something tells me he commits while he's here. That would be great!!! Would be even better if he brings the other Canadian with him!
TheKamdyMan Posted January 4, 2013 Author Report Posted January 4, 2013 He is announcing on his birthday March 7. He could commit but it would be silent as thats been his plan all along.
Norm Peterson Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 He is announcing on his birthday March 7. He could commit but it would be silent as thats been his plan all along. OK, gotcha. But MAYBE ... Maybe he changes his plans because he's just so blown away by everything he sees here. Yeah, maybe he's just soooo wowed by all that is Nebrasketball, that he commits right here and right now! That'd be sweet! Red Rum 1
49r Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Norm, you could only find the 10 hour version? I felt this one left me wanting more. tcp 1
Red Rum Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Thanks for the song that is now going to be stuck in my head all weekend.
Swan88 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Here is some (apparently) current/new information: "2013 Hargrave Military (VA) PF Neville Fincher is taking an official visit to Kansas State this weekend." According to Rivals, this player is 6'8" and 229 lbs.--a power forward with offers from Robert Morris and Towson. Hopefully, Mr. Fincher is viewed by Kansas St. as a back-up plan to Matthew Atewe.
