Big break Huskers? RT @TheRecruitScoop2013 Hargrave Military Academy (VA) PF Neville Fincher has given a verbal commitment to Kansas State.

Kansas State had been leader for@MatthewAtewe41, but now having signed a '13 PF, Atewe's list could be changing#Nebrasketball

This makes me very happy.  I wonder about his planned commit date.  He may want to reconsider waiting, more and more teams are less likely to wait.  (including the Huskers)

He may not wait to commit, but I bet he waits to make it public.

Husker Illustarted has an article on the Attewe visit.  I'm not a member so can't read it.  Maybe somebody that is can at least give us a brief summary?

Rosenthal tweeted that Attewe said NU at the top of his list.  The other good news is that KSU got a verbal commit from another big so Attewe may be leaning more towards us now.  Would like to land this guy.

Just saw that, it sounds promising.

Question:  When these guys visit, can they play pick up games with the current team.

I assume Fuller could because he is signed, sealed, delivered.  But was wondering about an unsigned player.

Just something that popped into my head.

In my experience, they never have. Exception being summer visits (usually unofficial) when "practices" are informal, led by players, and not monitored by the NCAA. Not sure if that's related at all.

In season, practice time is limited. Recruits would sit on the sidelines and watch practice, and maybe shoot around afterwards. Not sure if it would make much sense when we are trying to prepare for a game to say, "hey come suit up and run with us for a bit." We never did... but no clue if it's the NCAA rule or just coach's preference.

Just something interesting to pass the time till we (hopefully) get another commit....

We had the 21st rated recruiting class in the entire country in 2007.

that was probably based on the fact that we had 9 recruits sign that year. I'd take Fuller and Webster over any of these 9.

I'd take another Ade in a heartbeat.

I am with you here... He was a beast by his Senior year.  I remember that first round NIT win, and that tough loss to Ole Miss still stings every time I think about it.  I think an Ade in Miles system could be really effective!

That was just around the time when i started paying really close attention to husker hoops. Was there a lot of hype for that incoming class?

A fair amount,  considering Doc just got the job in August and signed all of these guys by November.  It seemed like Diet Mountain Dew for fuel worked. But Norwood never made it here due to grades.  Surprised to read he was a 2 star, because he was perhaps the most highly touted from a basketball standpoint of anyone in the class.  Dagundoro was the best player recurited by Doc, and we had a big head start there because his brother played football for NU.  At the time I was optimitistic that this staff showed much promise from a recruiting standpoint, but it never panned out.

I see that Robin Washnut on rivals just posted that, while he has not talked to Atewe, that he has heard Atewe is stating that Nebraska is now in the lead. K State just recieved the commitment from a power forward and, presumably, are no longer in it.

Oops. Just saw this was already posted.

I have a question regarding Atewe. I read in an article from last November that K State had the lead and Atewe was expected to commit to K State any day. But time passed and he didn't commit. All of a sudden Nebraska appeared. Anyone have insight why he didn't commit to K State?

'Cause they suck.  In multiple ways.

Bruce Weber is a decent coach but have you ever driven through Manhattan, Kansas?  It's like driving through North Platte.  There was nothing around before you drove up on the town and a lot more nothing as you're leaving.  And they have like cow pastures right across the street from the football stadium.

Their current digs are one step up from a dumpster fire.  And that's their new arena.  Their old arena was comparable to the old NU Coliseum.  And they played there through the 80s.  Which means their new place is 15 years newer than Devaney and nowhere near as nice.  And while we're getting a brand-spankin'-new arena, their idea of an upgrade is slapping on a fresh coat of purple paint.

Some may joke about the lack of academic prestige of the University of Nebraska, but, believe it or not, we're better than they are.  And the gulf is widening.

Have you ever driven by Manhattan's airport?  (Snort, giggle, snort.)  Not sure they can land jets there.  Small ones maybe.  I think the whole terminal is about the size of my dentist's office.  So, if you want to fly a recruit into a bigger, more impressive airport and then drive them to Manhattan, it's about 3 hours from Kansas City.
