Just saw him mentioned by Robin Washut on twitter. No idea what the article says but it hints at good things. Rivals has him as the #61 2017 player as of now.

When you're Nebraska, you have to identify early and be right about it.

Look at Roby, for instance.  The kid has been playing like a kid who deserved the offer.

His team won its 4th straight state championship, winning in the finals 82-64, this past weekend. Here's an action shot of him catching a pass from the St. Paul Pioneer-Press. Story - http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_27714086/state-class-3a-basketball-delasalle-tops-johnson-fourth.

I can't find his stats from that game. it's weird how some news sites don't feel the need to include box scores or links to them anymore. Edit: Minneapolis Star-Tribune said he had 14 points. - http://www.mnbasketballhub.com/news_article/show/490548?referrer_id=198777

Gotta give this staff credit.  From the looks of things, they're really working the recruiting side.  And it seems to be yielding some results.  Which is good, because we've needed to upgrade the talent level in order to compete in this league.

Absolutely.

We're on the verge of putting an all 4* lineup out on the floor soon and yet it feels like it's still not enough to compete at the highest level.

Step by step we're getting better though.

That is the main reason why the 2 previous coaches couldn't succeed here as they couldn't recruit the talent we need.  Miles and staff have done an amazing job recruiting and hoping it will pay dividends in the next couple of years.

You have to wonder how much of a role these new facilities have played in helping us get our foot in the door.  I know Miles has leveraged them to the hilt.  But new facilities aren't what's sitting up in the gym at De La Salle HS watching a top 150 kid work out.

New facilities might help us close, but pounding the pavement is what seems to be helping us open.

I used to think that as well about the facilities but then realized that Connie Yori was able to build a winning program with the exact same facilities.  Then it make me realize that it was more about the Coach and coaching staff building relationships and working hard as opposed to the facilities.  I think you are correct Norm that the facilities have had a role but think it comes done to Miles and staff just working harder to make this program successful.  I think the previous coaches wanted to win as well but didn't see the effort on the recruiting front that this coaching staff is giving.

A lot of it could be identifying talent early.  Look at Roby.  We got on him when he was an un-rated, unknown.  Took a long time before people on this board even started to warm up on him.  Now, he's a Rivals 4-star.  We got in on Horne when he was an unknown.  Now, he's vaulted into the Rivals 150.

Doc, OTOH, brought in guys like Alex Chapman (Sorry, Alex) who was also unknown but never blew up because he wasn't that good.

It helps a ton when you can spot talent and get in on the under-the-radar guys before they blow up.

Additionally, this staff brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and they're not afraid to try anything.  They realize Nebraska doesn't get much -- if any -- attention at a national level, and they're willing to use more unconventional means to get our name out there.  Like it or not, social media plays a large role in any high school kid's life.  Miles & Co. has recognized this and ran with it.

For instance, when a potential recruit can open up their Snapchat and see 100 seconds of photos/videos of the Huskerhoops account modeling their new jerseys and sneakers, running through performance testing, playing some tunes in the shower through the locker iPads, etc. it makes an impression.  You can reach a lot of players that way without much effort, regardless of whether it's an evaluation period or not.

We weren't the first to have a team Snapchat account, but we certainly weren't the last, either.  And we utilize it fairly well…better than a lot of other teams I've checked-out.  Some programs have the proper prestige and that sells itself to the recruits.  Miles recognizes he doesn't have that, so he uses every weapon at his disposal.

Was watching the Northern Iowa game yesterday and lo and behold look who got in the game for them.  I remembered this name and he looked pretty active for UNI...but I looked at his stats and was less than whelmed.  Seems to have regressed throughout his college career, not sure of the circumstances surrounding that, but it just goes to show you never know what you're gonna get with a kid:
