If you watched last year's heartbreaking last second loss at home against Wake, McKie and Harris will be the only players on the team you'll recognize this year. McKie is this team's double-double waiting to happen while senior Harris is the team's leading scorer and the guy who hit last year's game winning shot.

First Road Game for the Huskers

While no one expected the Huskers to run the table in the non-conference, it was more about the way they lost last Saturday with no one but Ubel and Talley providing any scoring. When Andre or Ray aren't scoring, ugly wins turn into really ugly losses.

Wake Forest isn't so different from Nebraska in that they're also in full rebuilding mode this year and picked to finish at the bottom of their conference. This year they're pairing their two upperclassmen with 7 freshmen recruits including three starters. This has led to a close game vs UConn and a 26 point beat down by Iona.

One factor in the game will be depth as the Deacons are one of the best teams in the country in generating contact and play at least 9 deep every game. While they don't have anyone over 6'9" who plays significant minutes, the entire team is quite tall and they tend to rule the boards. The overall athleticism of the teams allows them to take high percentage shots as opposed to having to settle.

It's not all bad news for the Huskers as this is one of the youngest teams in Division I. They might make it to the FT line in bunches, but they're making only 64% of them. They also don't exactly play lock down defense so the Huskers aren't going to have to earn every point.

This is a completely winnable game by either team so you might want to stay away from Vegas on this one. While I can see the Huskers getting payback for last year, it's hard to go against the home team on this one.

Prediction: Demon Deacons 63 - Huskers 57

Well, Coach Smith has proven that they have some shooter's rims

Looks like they have a pretty nice arena. Seats about 15,000, according to Wikipedia, and was built in 1987 for $20 million, which they estimate would amount to just under $38 million in 2012 dollars.

They have an upper bowl and a lower bowl with what looks like luxury boxes in between, and it appears the seating gets pretty close to the court on both sides and reasonably close on both ends. I don't know how it compares to our design in terms of getting the fans close but I suspect their design gets the fans closer.
