Dear Mr. Boehm

Not sure why you guys are so eager to throw other people's money around. Not only that, but many of you guys are the same ones that supported extending Doc. Well guess what? We're still paying the guy.

I have an idea, since the fans are so eager to give away $50k WHEN HE DIDN'T EARN IT and dump more money on a premature extension then I suggest we raise ticket prices accordingly.

We hired the guy and are paying him money to do what he's done (get us to the tourney). If that wasn't the expectation we could have kept Doc. If he actually takes to the next level (wins a tournament game) then give him a raise.

For those of you that are worried he'll jump ship I laugh in your face. He has us excited, for good reason, but he isn't going to attract higher level prestige programs without a tourney win anyway. You guys wouldn't last a day in my shoes with contract negotiations...you give the farm away.

If I was AD the program would be years ahead of schedule with millions saved vs what TO did.

Where do these guys come from??

I already regret the AD comment as it just gives you something to pout about rather than actually address fiscal responsibility

Did you coach junior high girls basketball at some point?

I mean, undefeated, championship-caliber junior high girls basketball?

How do you feel about 8 man rotations?

What? No, never...and please explain how this is remotely on topic. Seems to be common theme...bring up valid point on fiscal responsibility and get several incoherent replies

Which is exactly what you were seeking.  Your post wasn't about fiscal responsibility, it was about you.  And disrespecting everyone else.

Although I did like the similarity to the guy who gets blown away by Hans in Die Hard ("We both negotiate big deals every day.  You use a gun, I use a fountain pen").

Well I have always enjoyed spending other people's money. duh. And gee I will be stunned if our ticket prices don't go up. Get as much money from us while we are all still giddy about what is happening.

If we are going to do a pissing face laughing contest. My wife has saved the State millions over the years and she thinks it might be fair to give Tim the money. So there, nana nana boo boo.

Yes, I apologize for the AD comment. Not sure where I disrespected anyone other than disagreeing with them and pointing out their previous errors in thinking?

How is rewarding a coach for an amazing job this year a waste? Giving coach miles the bonus for having his peers and having the media winter admit Tim is his winner is not being fiscally irresponsible. He has earned this bonus and is pennies in the big picture. I along with many if you and many more major players make donations. Wherever money comes from today or down the road for miles will not be challenged. Coach is well taken care of but with everything great happening why even take a chance on a small bonus issue. Tim Miles puts in more hours than any of us and is away from his family. Enjoy the money coach and I am proud to donate to a program he leads. I hope to only be able to give more if the good lord blesses me as I am sure we all do.

At the risk of keeping a silly pissing match going any further, "I laugh in your face" might be just one little line that qualifies as a less than respectful way of getting one's views expressed.

Now, the Huskers are winning and life is good.  Can someone link the "Don't worry, be happy" song?

What we should have done was fire Tom Osborne when he didn't beat Oklahoma.

I was reading this on my phone and if there is a way to down arrow on the mobile site Idk how. I don't think I've ever given a down arrow on purpose (sorrry to the two who I accidentally hit the wrong button on) but I had to find a computer as soon as I could just so I could give it my first on purpose down arrow.

If you think raising ticket prices to compensate for a $50k bonus is going to hurt anyone in the pocketbook I would say you've got another think coming.  What it amounts to is approximately $3 per season ticket.

And if you look at it another way, that would be in the neighborhood of about 15 cents per ticket per game increase.

As it is, the increased revenue, and profit (about $1.5 million worth), from raising basketball season ticket holders from ~6000 to 15000 (with little or no increase in ticket price) would cover just about any reasonable raise the AD would consider giving the coaching staff.

I would imagine if you'd survey season ticket holders and asked them if they thought that was "throwing money around" they would laugh back in your face.

I don't imagine you're very good with contract negotiations judging by your shortsighted post, Johnny.

Finally, how do you propose the AD would be "years ahead of schedule" by saving "millions of dollars vs what TO did" when they are already running a pretty decent surplus as it is without saving your millions?  Got an answer for that?

Saving money for a rainy day doesn't win championships, Johnny.

Question? Should Coach Yori receive a bonus for not fulfilling the terms of her contract bonuses, the same as you are advocating that Coach Miles should

receive bonuses for not fulfilling the terms of his contract? After all she

was the coaches COTY but not the media and has bonuses written into her contract also.

No, I wouldn't give either a bonus, because it didn't meet the terms of their contract.  BUT if I was AD I would tell Miles to don't worry about that $50k because I will be doing him better than that this off season when I restructure his contract to reflect the work he has produced.

This is a Nebraska Basketball forum, not Steve Pederson Training Camp. Get bent.

P.S.  Enjoyed all the vapid "well done" posts you peppered as you waited for your chance to stick to everyone.
