this is a terrible tournment for us. how are we going to getnin the big dance if we can't get more wins and our record would be like 12 - 0 in the pre season. we might lose a game here and it will kill us. bad bad choice Tim, don't you know anything about getnin the big dance? Screw the RPI we need lots of wins.

Okay is anybody going to miss this kind of rant? Didn't think so.

I was going to make some snarky post with lots of misspellings complaining about how big a mistake it is for us to play in another in-season tournament.  But it didn't seem very sporting, what with Monsieur Ice being banned and all.  I just want everyone to know how much willpower it took for me not to make fun of him because I'm really not above it and it's such an easy target.  The post practically writes itself.  It sure wouldn't need much help from me on the spelling end of things ...

Oh, you dog.  You did.  You beat me to the punch.  Now I feel so ...

Nah, don't feel much of anything.  Nice work.  I'm not above bustin' the guy's balls either.  :P

Dinwiddie for Colorado is going to be going to the NBA after the season, so he won't be on their team next year.

But still they're returning lots of good talent and keep loading up on good recruits, so in spite of Tad Boyle's shortcomings as a coach, they should be considered the favorite to win this thing.

I see us as being about the third or fourth best team in this field next year.

Tad Boyle has shortcomings as a coach?  When has CU enjoyed the kind of success they are currently having?  Not since Sox Walseth in the '60's (remember him and Cliff Meely, anyone, anyone?)

Wichita St. will be an excellent team next year because their backcourt of Fred Van Vleet and Ron Baker are Sophomores.

This might be a good excuse for that Hawaii vacation!

Yeah, he does.  Read some Buff fans' message boards and their frustration regarding his inability (or refusal) to make in game adjustments and you'll see that what he's done there may be starting to be exposed a little as smoke and mirrors.  One could see a lot of parallels between what's going on there now and the Danny Nee era at NU.  Lots of talent coming in and some impressive wins, and also quite a few head scratching losses, some in blow out fashion.  Their gaudy RPI this year can be credited largely to playing and winning all but I believe two non-con games at home.  One of those wins required a miracle 30 foot shot going in at the buzzer to beat KU.

(Okay, I just checked and they won @CSU and @Air Force, and lost neutral court games against Oklahoma State and Baylor.  But still, I think we could have managed 10-2 with their non-con schedule.)

There's no question they've enjoyed some success in Boulder not seen (except for maybe briefly during the Ricardo Patton days) for over a generation, but color me a little unimpressed with Tad's ability to develop talent.  I would also have to say you could credit a lot of their success currently to moving to the Pac 12, which has (up until maybe this year) been a pretty significant drop off from top to bottom in terms of quality over the Big XII.  20 wins has been pretty easy for them to get lately.  Remember, they won the Pac-12 auto bid in their first year there and that was the only way they were getting to the NCAA's.  Last year they were only a #10 seed, and this year they're slipping into bubble territory as well.  Hardly what you'd call a massive resurgence to their glory days.

Don't get me wrong, I still say that CU along with WSU will be hands down the teams to beat in next years' Diamond Head Classic, but I can see them hitting a ceiling much like we did in the 90's under Nee.

Of course, that's just my opinion.  I could be wrong.

What about when Chauncey Billups led the Mighty Buffs to a victory over Indiana and General Knight in the NCAAs?

And to your second point, it looks like I'll be taking my FIRST Hawaiian vacation. I'd try to spell Mele'kalikimaka but I can't.
