World Herald had an interesting story about 7-footer Harry Kersenbrock from Crete who went to Kansas to play for Phog Allen in the 1920s.

Quote

“Klein even took the 7-footer to Lincoln to introduce him to the head basketball coach at Nebraska, Coach Bearg. The Nebraska coach declared that Harry was too tall and clumsy to play for NU. So Kersenbrock settled for tiny Doane College,” Keenan wrote. “While (Kersenbrock was) attending Doane College, Pop Klein made another run at getting the University of Nebraska to show an interest in his star pupil. Nebraska had a new coach named Charlie Black, and he also said Kersenbrock was oversized and would not fit in at Nebraska.

“While attending Doane, Kersenbrock attended the KU-Nebraska basketball game in Lincoln. He knew that Phog Allen had been making inquiries about him, and Kersenbrock approached Allen in Nebraska. The always innovative Allen jumped at the chance to sign Kersenbrock.”

He ended up starring for the KU freshman team, but died in a boating accident before making varsity.

So, all these years, has it been The Curse of Kersenbrock what done us in? You knew we had to have pissed off some eternal basketball demon.

2022 Jasen Green of Millard North is #116 in rivals 150 and Grand Island's Isaac Traudt is #118.

Remember when we were so excited about Tim signing our first ever rivals 150 guy?  That kid from Oklahoma I think?

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Will ourselves program reach the consistent level of a top tier program which will then entice high level Nebraska kids to come to Nebraska, or will high level Nebraska kids come here and take pride in elevating the Huskers to the elite level.  I sort of think we are seeing evidence that we need to raise our level first.

By the way, we are starting to see leakage with our football talent as well.

We can all hope that we will soon see anyone WE want, also will want to stay home in Big Red country.

His brother is the QB at Roncalli.  Helluva passer.

Jack Dotzler is Josiah Dotzler's cousin, not brother (they don't even pronounce their names the same way; funny story there). He's headed to Morningside to play basketball.

Josiah is one of the top few prospects in the state in 2023 along with Brennon Clemmons Jr., Tate Odvody (was Elkhorn South, now at Omaha Westside) and Rylan Smith (Lincoln Southwest), though he's also old for his grade.
