Midland's got a pretty good NAIA roster in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if they won their conference. They've got a really good coach too. They'll give the Huskers a run for the money early on.

I really liked the Travis kid from Gross and thought he'd be a good player for Nebraska to try and get to walk on.

Win or lose (which we've seen happen before...) don't read too much into results. We'll see a lot of combos we won't see all year and guys getting playing time that we won't see again with the game in doubt. Considering that NU will be working on running system more-so than trying to win the game, the outcome is really fairly tertiary to other things...

Uneblinstu, respectfully I disagree. I think we better win this game. Going away.

Our walk-ons should be able to at least hold their own in this game if they didn't win it outright. I don't know what lineup Midland would throw out there but they will be at a size disadvantage to

6-10 Kurkowski (1st team All-Conference and All-District)

6-4 Ritchie (three-time All-Conference, selected to play in Southeast Neb All-star game)

6-3 Tyrance (1st team All-Conference, Hon Mention All-state)

6-2 Peltz (District MVP and Hon Mention All-state -- led Class B in scoring twice)

5-11 Menke (1st team Class B, 3rd team All-Nebraska)

Now, those aren't necessarily D1 credentials, I realize. But I would be surprised if the team we're playing has many kids who had better high school resumes than those.

I'm not saying this should be anything resembling a competition, but what I'm saying is that each team enters this game with polar opposite mentalities. Nebraska's working out kinks (or maybe a little more than that), Midland's going to throw punches (metaphorically). Of course Nebraska should run away with this thing, but if it's close or worse, way too much will be made out of that when this game literally has zero bearing on the rest of the season.
