Miles talks about Palmer and Copeland’s return on “Sports Nightly”

No one had a better Memorial Day weekend than Nebraska men’s basketball coach Tim Miles.

Over the long weekend, both James Palmer, Jr. and Isaac Copeland announced their intentions to return to Nebraska for their senior year, and forego the NBA Draft.

“James and Isaac coming back were really, really important for us,” Miles said on the Husker Sports Network’s Sports Nightly Wednesday night. “I thought they made really mature decisions for the right reasons, too. Isaac had every option open to him, but like he said, we have unfinished business. That’s the right mindset you hope to see out of your guys.”

In all, the Huskers return six of their top eight scorers from last season.

Robin was pretty critical of Moos and the contract extension.  Said it creates necessary pressure.  Reiterated that we HAVE lost a recruit to another Big 10 school because of the "less than 4 years on the contract" sales pitch.  Said you have to get that contract over 4 years.

St. John's doesn't seem too worried about their weak schedule. Prepare for your tournament hopes to be over starting in December.

St. John's coach:

“We win our conference games, we’ll be in good shape,” Mullin said in a phone interview.

Rothstein:

“No Big East team needs the conference to be good next season more than St. John’s,” CBS Sports college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein said in a phone interview. “The days of stacking up meaningless non-conference victories and making the NCAA Tournament are over and done with.

“Nebraska last year won more conference games then they’ve ever won in the history of its program and they weren’t even on the bubble come Selection Sunday because it didn’t have enough quality wins. To make the NCAA Tournament, you have to beat other teams that are going to be in the NCAA Tournament.”
