83 Days to B1G Basketball: Nebraska's Three Point Shooting Still An Area Of Concern - BT Powerhouse

http://www.btpowerhouse.com/2015/8/22/9180441/83-days-to-b1g-basketball-nebraska-three-point-shooting-issue-2015-2016-struggling

The Cornhuskers were the worst team on offense last season during conference play. If that trend continues in 2015-16 it's going to be another long year in Lincoln.

The Three Most Important Non-Conference Opponents For The Nebraska Cornhuskers To Get Back To The NCAA Tournament - BT Powerhouse

The Nebraska Cornhuskers finished the 2014-2015 season with a 13-18 record. There are three early season games that can give the team a much needed boost.

Nebraska's Biggest Departure Terran Petteway May Be Quite Replaceable In 2015-16 - BT Powerhouse

One thing is for sure. The Cornhuskers are certainly not a team that will be cakewalk for any opponent going forward. Miles is creating a team that is somewhat flying under the radar. So while Petteway is gone, he did help steer the direction of the Cornhuskers program in a positive way and recruits are certainly looking at them now.

Q: What kind of an impact do you expect Ed Morrow and Glynn Watson to have forNebraska this year? -- Jacob Padilla

A: Honestly, with Tai WebsterBenny Parker, and Shavon Shields returning plus Andrew White entering the fold from Kansas, I'm not sure there's much room for Watson to make a huge impact this year. Maybe by the end of the year he can carve out a nice role -- or more than that if things go sideways for the Huskers -- but it seems like the backcourt will be pretty loaded with experienced guys. In the frontcourt though, Morrow has a shot to contribute. He's the more highly-regarded of the two, and there's more of an opening there. I'd also note that I think Jack McVeigh, another freshman out of Australia, could have a shot to contribute at some point too. He was pretty solid at the U19 World Championships this summer, and he can play anywhere really from the 2 through the 4 in the NCAA.

Moreover though, I think this says more about the kind of talent Nebraska is getting into its pipeline now. Newcomers White, Morrow, McVeigh, Watson and Anton Gill (eligible in 2016-17) are the types of guys that Nebraska rarely got under previous regimes. The jury is still out on Tim Miles' success -- his results stumbled last year and his coaching staffs have experienced quite a bit of turnover -- but he certainly has the talent level up in Lincoln.

KNTK - Drop The Mike:  Tim Miles having an epic day at Big Ten Media Days, what will Nebrasketball look like in 2015?

(11:51)

When it comes to talent left by the previous staff, does Miles have an argument for a little patience?

How strong is the recruiting so far?

Also, is Andrew White III the truth? Will Ed Morrow surprise some people?

Here is an interesting 3 1/2 minute defensive drills film from a Husker practice. Among other things learning to take charges. (free)

http://www.scout.com/college/nebraska/story/1599576-nebraska-hoops-defensive-drills

Four things I got from this video:

1) That even at this level they have to be taught and shown how to just do about everything. Which maybe we can show later this year when some starts bitching that we don't teach them something.

2) That I laughed when I watched Jack's face when he was ready to take that charge and his smile after.

3) I want Benny's arms and shoulders when I grow up. Dude is put together.

4) How hard they work at helping each other. That take a charge drill had about 3 or 4 guys helping them up and "truly" encouraging each other. Not just that rah rah stuff some guys do.

This is a OWH basketball article about Lee B interviewing Benny.

Among other items, one of interest was a comment on last years problems and the difference so far this year from Benny's perspective. “We get along better than we have recently. We don’t have any more ego problems. People get along, so we’re not getting after each other in a bad way at practice.’’

Nebraska was bad last year and lost basically everyone outside of Shavon Shields. Tim Miles welcomes a good recruiting class, but it’s not that good. And yes, there’s incoming Kansas transfer Andrew White. But White was pretty much glued to the bench in Lawrence. The “Kansas is Loaded!” argument doesn’t do much for me in that regard, either. Sure, there’s no shame in playing behind Andrew Wiggins. But Jamari Traylor and Brannen Greene got more playing time. I don’t think we have quite an Alex Legion situation here, but I’ll be surprised if White ends up being a top Big Ten performer, rather than just an adequate starter.

The Huskers are at least a year away from sniffing the bubble
