Recruiting Violations at Iowa State

According to ESPN, Iowa State committed some serious recruiting violations a couple of years ago in a variety of athletic sports. The NCAA is calling them major infractions which ISU reported following a self-investigation. Apparently, these contacts first surfaced in relationship to an "undergraduate student coach under Fred Hoiberg." ISU is asking for two years probation but the article doesn't indicate what if any response there has been from the NCAA.

There are no more rules anymore.  At least not any with any consequences.  Just give them the obligatory slap on the wrist and Hoiberg will be on his merry way the tourney again next year.

Given ISU is not a major player, good but not great, the NCAA will hit them hard if these are true.  If this had been a say Oklahoma in football (as has been seen) the self-investigation would get them a slap on the wrist.

Cheat to get on top, establish your program and then all is well.  I believe that has been somewhat of an ongoing theme for some programs.
