Guys,

There is no chance in hell Miles could take this job even if he wanted to (which he doesn't at this moment).

A year ago, which does he take? Minnesota. He grew up a Minnesota fan and its a more attractive Big 10 job.

Now, after one year, after uprooting his family, being here and invested in the current players, recruits and town, alumni? Heck, his Dad gets great care at a heart hospital in Lincoln. He doesn't want the gig.

Further, let's see he did, there's no chance in hell Nebraska, after one season, lets him out of his contract to go to a rival Big 10 school. No chance.

ZERO chance this happens.

No one has contacted him as far as we know. But you want to have a guy in your program that other people want.

Actually they have. Just like they did last year when they decided to keep Tubby. But hey...I don't know shit.
Why are you being so abrasive? If you have information you wish to share regarding Miles and Minnesota, please do so. Otherwise, his post was correct, as far as he knew, they had not been in contact.

If you know something to the contrary, feel free to let us know. But this cryptic "I know something and I'm going to tell you I know something but not share any of the information" act doesn't serve any purpose.

I think it's what I'd call the paradox of the insider.  Insiders, of course, can provide fantastic information but, even though it's free, sometimes it comes at a cost.  Depends on how they present it.

I've seen insiders who just posted their stuff:  "Hey, thought you guys might like to know ..." kind of thing.  And if people question the assertions of an anonymous person whose information is not verifiable, those insiders have said, well, y'know, take it or leave it.  But they have confidence in what they say and don't need their egos strokes about it.

The other kind of insider is the guy who needs to have his ego stroked and expects everyone else to bow down and kiss his ring.  He thinks he's doing the board a favor by posting and expects his posts to be regarded as the final word.

The second kind of insider kills message board conversation.  Look at the vast wasteland that is the basketball board over on Rivals.  Used to be thriving.  Many of us used to post there.  Not no more.  It's an empty shell of its former self and that's because you can't have a conversation with the guy who always lays the ultimate trump card.

So, Norm, would you say you have "inside information" about people with inside information? The mind, it boggles.

I got NO inside information.  I am the consummate outsider.  And I don't have inside information on the inside informers but I do have insight on the insiders.  But that's different.  I'm also not an expert on anything.  But I do have opinions, like the rest of us.  And that's what I think makes message boards great.  It's like a virtual bar.  You can hang out with your pals and throw back some cold ones while waxing intelligent about this subject or that, even though none of you really know jack squat about any of it.  But it doesn't matter because you're more there for the conversation than the expertise.

And that's exactly why I love HHC.

But, seriously, I really don't know spit.

Souhan joked in the Trib today that Minnesotans are such rubes that if you've driven through the Twin Cities, or coached in MN (like Miles) they consider you one of their own. Teague is now grasping at straws because everyone, even Flip Saunders has turned him down.

I'm a little less than optimistic about the future of Deverell after reading that.

Do you know some inside information?

Because I didn't take anything from that article that indicate that Biggs is done with the team.  He made a mistake and from all indications that was a one time deal.  If anything he'll probably miss a couple of games at the most.

No, Gov.  I just have been conditioned to have ominous feelings about Nebrasketball is all.   :D

I suppose I should get over that.

I gotcha, yeah I can understand why you feel that way.

Why would Nebraska have to let him out of anything?  If the contract has a buyout clause, all Miles would have to do is pay the buyout and he would be free and clear to go wherever he wants.

I don't think he's going to Minnesota, but the contract at Nebraska isn't the reason.

I need to as well, but I also read that thinking the worst.  You would assume punishment for his actions would be internal.  Why would miles say once it was settled he would make an announcement?

The internal discipline is going to be completely dependent upon the degree of trouble he gets in with the law.

Possibly so that we can learn how Coach Miles handles things like this.

So... if something worst were to happen later we won't have a 152 page thread fighting discussing why he hasn't addressed the issue yet and what it will be.

Because he does know that many on here do have jobs other than posting on here.  Although if the pay was right...

This article was posted on a gopher message board....I liked it....

http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/eve...icle/id/67068/

This part was the most tell tale for me:

If you are a Gophers fan, it should be a little depressing when you can make the argument that Husker basketball is just as appealing as Gopher basketball. It should be a little depressing that the new Gophers athletic director didn’t have a surefire replacement before he decided to dump Tubby.

It should be a little depressing that Miles — in his first year with little talent — was able to beat a once highly-ranked Gophers team late in the season. It prompted Husker fans to storm the court in the last game played at the Devaney Center.

Now Miles prepares for next season in a new arena with a group of redshirts who were able to take it to the starting five during practice this past season. Sound familiar?

It should. When Ben Woodside, Brett Winkelman, Mike Nelson and Lucas Moormann redshirted at NDSU, they won their share of pickup games against the starters. Four years later, they were playing in the NCAA Tournament.

No, there is really no reason Miles would leave Nebraska for Minnesota.
