Nice article about Sai on the Rivals site. Sounds like we have a very good chance with him. Coach Miles and Smith have been watching him for two months now and like how versatile Sai is. Although not a traditional 4, he can run Coach Miles system with his skillset. Sai will talk to his coaches and parents, narrow the list of schools down to 3-4 and take a couple visits with the idea to make a decision by April 17. Nebraska has already made his cut.

Oh, and we won't have to worry about grades with Sai. He carries a 4.0 grade point average.

I think our lack of a medical school on campus would be our biggest drawback.  His parents are MDs and that is what he wants to be.

I dont see it being a problem.  Nebraska has had plenty of players go on to med school after their playing days.  Sean Fisher for example is doing it now after his playing career and could be the person they model their approach after when recruiting him.

The Univeristy of Nebraska Med School in Omaha has a national reputation in several areas. Should be a great option for Sai!

We're the only BCS school to offer him so far.

More than likely it's more about basketball at this point or otherwise he wouldn't be at a JUCO.

My point is that if he chooses somewhere like Penn over Nebraska, that will be the reason.

BTW, Michigan has the 8th best medical school according to this site.  Penn has the 4th.

He would be here next year correct?  So that gives us Fuller Hawkins Webster Sai and possibly Atewe?

yes.  Which means we'd have a future starting 5 all in one class

They might be in the same recruiting class, but they wouldn't have the same eligibility.

If we get Sai, he'd be in the same eligibility class as Shields, Parker, Pitchford and Petteway.  And Vucetic.

That in itself is the best class we have had since??  A long time?

It's already the best class since ... a long time, even if we don't finish it out with Tumallatewe.

Adding those two would make it the best class since ... a long damn time ago.

Twue.  Vewwy twue.  That's some kinna lineup, though, huh?

3 years hence, if things come together the way we are hoping/thinking/imagining ...

Points:  Webster, Parker, Hawkins?, Petteway?

Wings:  Shields, Fuller, Hawkins, Petteway, Pitchford, Tumalla

Bigs:  Atewe, Vucetic, Pitchford, Tumalla, Shields, Fuller

That's ten guys and a lotta lotta potential combinations, whether you want to go big, or small and athletic, or whatever you'd want to do.  And give those bigs three years to develop?  M'mmm.  Could be a pretty stout team.

By the way, that's 10 guys who would all be juniors and seniors in three years.  Which means, if no early departures and we sign those other two guys, we'd have a total of three players in the freshman and sophomore classes.

I cannot for a moment imagine that it will happen that way.  Some things will change.  Just hope we keep the best and make room for better.

I am lazy today, and for goodness sakes, I am in no position to make another mistake, so I will simply ask, does BYU have a medical school?

not according to what I can find.  I did see they are ranked 10th nationally for students who go on to medical school. Per their website.

So I'd take that as they do not but they send kids to them regularly.

OK, so this is interesting.  24/7 sports is reporting as of 3/19/2013, that Sai has named Michigan as the leader for his commitment.  So, apparently Michigan has offered their former walk-on a scholarship?  That's what it sounds like if their reporting is right.

has to be a typo and mess up.  It also says he enrolled to Michigan on 3/19 as well.

Somewhere I read this kid was runner up district MVP in his juco district.  I swear, if he was a 2014 kid, his recruitment would BLOW UP by November.

I think you're probably right, Kamdy.  Has to be a misprint.  I checked a Michigan hoops message board and there was no discussion about re-offering.

I had heard he was his conferences runner up for MVP.  I can confirm he was first team all-conference but cant confirm the other.

Is that up to date? I know it says 3/19 for him naming Michigan as his leader, but it also says "3/19 Sai Tumalla enrolls at Michigan." Then you scroll to a third timeline event and it says "3/12 Nebraska offers scholarship." I am inclined to think that those Michigan events are old from when he went there previously and that those items were just added to the timeline on 3/19.
