I assume Bo Ryan will win Big Ten coach of the year, but I'm not so sure our own Tim Miles doesn't deserve some serious consideration. I don't think a single team has overachieved as much as Nebraska has in conference this season.

We were picked 12th. We will finish 10th.

We have been underdogs in 16 of 17 league games, but instead of being 1-16, we're 5-12. That's a +4. Was Wisconsin expected to be four games worse than 11-5 (7-9) at this point?

CoY's a tough call, but I'd probably put Ryan on top as well. I think regardless of the vote, MIles getting 5 wins out of this team--and who knows, maybe even a 6th--will certainly get the attention of the rest of the league. No one's done more with less than miles this season, and if that were the sole standard, he'd win the award.

I agree with you but they won't give it a to a 10th place coach. I will say miles has exceeded my expectations this year. I wanted to see an improved team from beginning to end, and I believe we are.

It'll be Ryan or Crean, my money's on Crean.  But I don't think anyone's done a better job of coaching his team than Miles has this year.

If Crean gets it, that is a poor choice IMO.  Indiana has a ton of talent and I haven't been particularly impressed with how Crean has coached them in the conference this year.

He won't win the award, but we have definitely exceeded expectations.  To win more Big Ten games than last year with a worse roster in a much better Big Ten is remarkable.

Precicely.  It can't be said enough just how remarkable it is.

Well, sure he's got the talent advantage...but that's part of coaching, getting the talent, and they've done everything expected of them.  Winning the league is a huge part of the COY award.

Ryan is a no-brainer to me (because I know they won't vote for a coach with only five wins). Ryan lost his starting point guard before the season and still has Wisconsin in fifth place. He's an incredible coach.

But, wow, the job Miles has done this season is every bit as impressive.

I'm not saying that I believe personally that Crean deserves it over Ryan, because I don't.  I do think that Ryan did the best job this year...having that said though, I still think Crean's gonna get it.

Wisconsin is only a game out of first place (in the loss column).  They still have a shot at a tie for 1st place w/ several teams.  Bo Ryan will be B1G Coach of the Year.

And, for B1G Player of the Year, I'd take Trey Burke.  The Mythagain PG is a very, very good table-setter and scorer.

Good call, I was just looking at how many teams were listed ahead of the Badgers in the standings. Didn't even think to look at all of their records. Eleven Big Ten wins out of that team is nothing short of amazing.

This

Coaches with only 5 league wins don't win CotY awards.   Doesn't mean he didn't do the best coaching job in the league this year though
