It’s a W.  I was impressed with Tarleton’s quickness on the perimeter and their big girl was a force inside.  Not a good shooting night and other than Prince we had very little from our guards.  Hargrove continues to improve which came in handy tonight.  Chattanooga will be a stronger test Sunday.

Brock was the Lady Bears associate head coach for three memorable national championship seasons in 2019, 2012 and 2005. He also helped Baylor to the 2010 Final Four, seven Elite Eight appearances, and 23 Big 12 Conference titles (12 regular season, 11 tournament).

I don't think you can teach touch.  Her whole career has been that way. However without her we would have been in trouble and not won a lot of games ."

What mystifies me is that she made a high % of those shots all thru high school.  In her last game for state championship, she had a rotation of two or three girls taller than she but very thin (built like Coley) leaning/hanging/banging on her the entire game, collecting fouls, and she still scored around the rim.

I won't make excuses on her behalf; but game action is obviously different than "shoot around" practice.  In a game you get contact and/or you expect contact.  It alters your touch and it can alter your release.  She has great teachers at UNL and her dad played and coached college ball and has taught her the tricks of the trade.

So in my humble tiny mind, it is not her shot or touch; but more so her brain is in overdrive.  She is trying to think the ball into the hoop, rather than allow her training and muscle memory to complete the shot.  Again, just an opinion.

Tarleton just seemed to play with more intensity. Not real talented, but played with focus and kept within their capabilities. Pretty well coached and organized. Just not great shooters or rebounders.

Our free throw consistency was a big part of the difference. And has been said our low floor shooting percentage was very concerning. We'll struggle in the B1G, if shooting near 30%.

Inconsistent performances from game to game, continue to be the MO for now. Hope we can turn the page during conference play.

Hargrove gets my vote for more play,...lots more. Has natural talent and excellent skills.  Maybe can be the replacement for Potts this year??

The coaches need to tell Markowski to quit trying to shoot three's!!  She missed one attempted this game and is 5 for 20 for the season for .250.   Last year's percentage on three's was not great either as she shot 21 for 71 or .296.   She needs to find an alterative shooter before casting up a three.

The offense is often too much standing around and holding the ball.  Need to have better player movement with a purpose.

I agree.  She takes good shots that she feels comfortable with and doesn't force things.  Yes she gets beat on defense on occasion but so do our 4 or 5 year seniors.  As for Alexis she needs to stop trying to force those shots that are basically low %.

Hargrove continues to get better with more court time. While I am sure Alexis knows what to do in the paint, you can fall into bad habits and I think that is part of her problem right now. She can be a good passer. She needs to pass back out to a guard and then reset her post position and we need to look for her again if we are not in a good spot to shoot a three. Also she is a little predictable right now (post moves) which is part of her falling into a bad habit.  Nothing that can't be corrected. Watching Allison sort of takes me back to her first year. All the time away and you can see it is there she just needs more court time.
