This is implying that the gameplan was for him to only get 10-15 minutes. Which is incorrect. He clearly was projected to play a significant amount more. He played 11 minutes and nearly fouled out. They couldn't keep him on the court.

I highly doubt Nate Loenser thought Meah was going to guard Kalkbrenner for 20 minutes and not get in any foul trouble. That would be pretty wishful thinking if he did.

Gavin Griffiths is another little surprise at his season and the CU game +/- and I think shows that you can't strictly go off of +/-. I still have hopes for him though that he'll find another level of gear and hustle.

I never would've thought in the off-season Gavin would be one of the first guys being eeked out of the rotation.  His physical tools are a match made in heaven for Fred and our system, but he looks lost out there.  Maybe Wednesday's game will be a "figure shit out" game for Gavin and they play him 25+ minutes.

Gavin seems like he is playing not to make a mistake so he doesn't get pulled right away.  He is playing tight instead of not worrying about making a mistake.  I think if he has one breakout game like Conner just had at Creighton, he will look like a new player and be able to contribute more this season.

When did I say that? What are you even arguing? He got to 11 minutes with 4 fouls. It's pretty clear the goal was to get him to more like 15-20 minutes.

He just needs more practice time and minutes in these lower competition games we have coming up. He's thinking too much out there.

I'm not arguing. Two things can be true at once. I agree with you the staff very well could have said "man it would be great if we could get 15-20 minutes out of Meah guarding Kalkbrenner." And the staff may then also have said "But with how physical we're going to ask him to guard and with how many touches Kalkbrenner is going to get, it's highly likely he gets in foul trouble and doesn't make it to 15-20 minutes. But that's why we have Andrew and Berke."

And to me that doesn't mean Meah didn't play well or didn't do his job for this game. He was out there to be an enforcer and muck it up and if fouls were called, so be it.

And I only responded because you said his +/- was misleading. He was +3 in 3 games played on the season coming into Friday, which was the worst on the team. So +9 for him against Kalkbrenner and Creighton even in just his 11 minutes is pretty good for him.

That's all I was saying. I still don't want him out there a whole lot. When I said he "easily had his best game as a Husker" it was quite a bit of sarcasm because of how bad I felt he's been leading up to this point, partly due to his own play and partly due to what we were asking him to do offensively. I apologize if that didn't come across. I was just trying to give him some semblance of a compliment while I could as I've been pretty hard on him so far.

In my humble opinion, less is more with Meah. The fewer minutes he plays (10-15 max) and the fewer times he touches the ball offensively, the better the team we can be.

We need to also remember that both Gavin and Connor are only sophomores that were a bit of role players on their last team.
If they were both 5th year seniors coming and playing a bit (lost ?) I would be really worried. However both will have ups and downs through out the year.
Berke may hit a wall sometime too, but we will be okay when that happens too.

In a 17-point win that we controlled from start to finish, I didn't expect to see such a wide discrepancy in +/-, yet here we are. Griffiths has probably played himself into being the 10th man for now (assuming everyone is healthy). He looks completely lost and has no confidence in his shot. I hope something clicks with him soon.

I would love to see more minutes with the top five on the floor together. Hoping their health allows that to happen.

Not much to say about that disaster. Morgan played well and Jacobsen being +7 in 9 minutes of playing time in a 37-point loss is remarkable.

Pretty concerning stat to me is Brice has 1 rebound in his last 91 minutes of game time. He averaged 5.5 last year and 5.3 the year before at Charlotte and he's averaging 2.5 right now. Not great when you're 6-7 and play nearly 30 minutes a game.

This times a thousand. Doesn't seem to have a whole lotta want to if he's not scoring.

I will lead that, I still think GG has so much unlocked “does he know how good he is” potential. Something’s just missing a small bit right now.

With that being said, has Jacobson gotten to the point where he may start taking some of GG’s minutes? He’s constantly doing the right thing, in the right places, and not making silly mistakes.
