It's finally game day.

Omaha is bad.

88-48. Took care of business with everyone getting playing time.

-Omaha was a mismatch

-Potts is good

-Weidner played point

-Bozan has potential

-Nissley can shoot

-Defense needs to improve in the half court

-Moriarity is still offensively challenged but works on defense

-Too many, 20+ turnovers against an overmatched opponent

-Markowski was solid

-Grace Cave is a small school player who could have been a nice reserve for us.

-officials called traveling!!  But called plenty of ticky tack fouls

First game.  Going to be a bit rough around the edges.  I would be much more concerned if we didn't have a number of minor issues.

We should have blown Omaha off the floor, and we did!

Really like how Bozan... is coming around and getting in the flow. She's going to be a good one. Good basic skills, good hands, and a good shooter to boot.

 

Pretty sure Markowski just set the NU women's basketball all time record for double-doubles.

 

Have lots of guards that will contribute. Deeper than we've been at the back court ...have 4 or 5 that could possibly start. The point spot is pretty obvious, just who will be the shooting guard, etc

 

Yep, kind of ugly and sloppy at times, but we're doing what needs to be done for the time being. Got to get the lineup decided fairly quickly. The Creighton game is on the horizon.

I feel like Hake is starting til Nissley can take over her spot as our shooting guard. Nissley is a better overall player than Hake at this point. Hake is a important piece for us but would be better served coming off the bench.

Here's my opinion after 2 games against inferior teams. Markowsky will need to stay out of foul trouble because I'm not sure about the  2 other bigs. Petrie or Bozan haven't shown any low post moves yet. Petrie needs to learn not to camp in the lane and get called twice for it. Bozan looks like she will be a threat from the 3 point line. Coach needs to get Nissley in the game for scoring. The kid really shoots the 3's well.  She always scores a lot of points for the limited minutes she plays.  Hopefully her foot problems are healed. I like we're pretty loaded at the guard position. I'm a little disappointed with Hargrove so far.  She's gotten off to a slow start.  Hopefully she gets adjusted to the college game.  I was hoping maybe Moriarity would finally improve on her shooting and ball handling but it doesn't look like she has. Her stat line was 12 min, 0-4., 0-3  3 pt, 1-4 FT, 1 RB, 1 Asst, 3 TO's.    With as many guards as we have I'm not sure she should get too many minutes.  She does decent defense but is a liability on offense. I did like to see Coach throw the full court press on them. I think we have the talent to do it this year.   This should be a fun year as long as Markowski stays healthy.

I agree with your analysis but I will give a lot more leniency to a freshman or sophomore then the seniors.  Particularly Bozan just getting here in August.   As for Hargrove she was recruited as a wing player as was Coley.  Unless I am missing something they are now both playing at power forward.  I hope it doesn't effect her play like it did Coley's.

Freshman will have their moments so I will give them time to adjust. I think Bozan looks like she has a good upside as she adjusts to the American and D1 game. At this point we know what Moriarity brings to the table and it is not offense. I still feel like Nissley is getting up to speed after her surgery. We have upgraded our guard play by having Allison back and the addition of Prince. Will need to cut the turn overs down but that will come. Still early in the season but we have a big test coming shorting with Creighton.

I think Rimdal will be a valuable piece to the puzzle before all is said and done. Bozan, for a last second addition, looks like a steal. Really like her potential. I also like Hargrove. She just needs experience.  Addition of Prince, and the return of Weidner, should make for a competitive team in a 'tough as nails' conference. Buckle up.
