The subbing isn't going to change. So why beat a dead horse?

Because it's good to sometimes use "facts" on a forum to illustrate a point...rather than only opinions.

And a good read on the game

With Amy in year eight we have a good idea of what to expect from her.

Indeed we do have a good idea of what to expect from Amy based on her last 7 seasons…but I’m not sure that’s an argument in Amy’s favor.

Darn it, sorry. It’s WAY too early in the season for my cynicism to start taking hold. Carry on.

imo........i hope jaz gets a little more offensive minded as we approach the conference schedule.

Actually, she needs to get more defensive minded.  She got beat off the dribble like a bad child against Creighton.  If this team is going to do anything, they will need to get better on the defensive end.

Things I like, so far.   I like our options at the 3 and 4 positions.  The Kendal's and the Newbies (Potts and Petrie) are athletic, long, fairly tall, and hustle. They're  not all providing the offensive fire power we'd like (yet), but have potential.  We need to get Stewart back on the floor. I don't think Petrie is a post player. Even with Weidner out, we have some depth at the guard positions. White and Shelley should get the bulk of the minutes. Historically, Jaz seldom leaves the floor. Hake, NIssley, and Krull are OK off the bench. Krull is the better defensive option, but all can light it up at times. Lastly, Markowski is a stud. She might miss way too many bunnies, spend too much time out by the 3 point line (offense and defense), but I doubt that is improvisation. She is giving great effort. It has been awhile since we saw a post player improve from one year to the next. Good to see.  I also like the team togetherness (what you can see with limited access).  I doubt Weidner has missed a game since injured.  Stewart is still in a boot, but she's on the bench.  And, MM, 2 days from the NCAA volleyball tournament, going in as the number 1 seed, is right there on the bench, supporting her WBB teammates.

Enjoyed the win ladies.  Well done.

Agree about Markowski’s improvement and effort, and I’ve sometimes been a critic.  Potts is also close to stud territory and White is solid.  But the Kendal’s are frankly disappointing.  They’re in their third year in the program and while fairly solid on defense, they don’t really contribute anything else, i.e., scoring, rebounding, assists.  And I notice you don’t say anything about Jaz other than she plays a lot of minutes.  She has the most complete skill set on the team but just isn’t showing it.  Her scoring, rebounds and assists are all pretty good, but pretty good isn’t nearly good enough for an all-B1G third year player whose ceiling is much higher than her production.  Not sure whether she’s being misused or has simply lost the fire.

I see a similar year like last year coming unless defense picks up. They really need Stewart back to add more depth.

Just imagine...in January we will have two additional experienced post players...

I do hope Jazz steps it up, because I don't see her playing like a Big 10 All Conference guard right now, but the truth is, we need more than her stepping up unless we want this season to look like last season. They couldn't get it done with just Jazz, and it's not going to work just depending on her to make things happen. Potts is off to a great start, and I think she will continue to get better. AM is a force inside, and I believe she is only going to show more depth as the season progresses. White seems to be holding back, and I can only wonder if she is still trying to find her place on this team. She is historically a scoring point guard, but she seems to be wanting to get others involved more, and that has hurt us in both of our losses, considering nobody had a hot hand in those games. The team doesn't seem to be "clicking" yet. I hope that happens soon.

My blurb was things I like at the moment, not a critical comment.  I'm happy Jaz and White could monopolize floor time at guard. I'm glad we have options to give them the occasional rest.  No more, no less.   Once conference play begins, I'm sure my tone will change at times.  GBR
