“We are very excited to add Julian, his wife Kaylee, and sons Malachi and Elijah to our Husker women’s basketball family,” Williams said. “Julian is a high-energy, passionate coach and a dynamic recruiter. His 16 years of collegiate coaching experience coupled with his values and integrity make him the perfect person to positively impact our student-athletes through the game of basketball.”

Assibey spent the past three years as an assistant coach for the Gators. In his tenure, he helped Florida to three consecutive postseason berths. Assibey joined the Gators after spending four years as an assistant coach at Montana State, where he helped the Bobcats to a pair of Big Sky regular-season titles and one conference tournament crown. In addition to his assistant coaching duties, Assibey served as the recruiting coordinator for Montana State, which produced nine all-conference honorees including a pair of Big Sky players of the year.

Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Assibey grew up in Downey, California, before earning four letters in men’s basketball while also competing in track and field (long jump, triple jump, 4×100-meter relay) at William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Assibey earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration and strength and conditioning in 2005. Assibey then completed his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in 2013, while being an assistant coach at Merrimack College.

Assibey’s been an assistant coach for over 15 years and will take over for former assistant coach, Tom Goehle, who retired from his position last week.

If you look at the interview that Jessica Coody did with new assistant WBB coach Julian Assibey last Thursday evening on Sports nightly you will learn a lot more about him.  Well spoken, knowledgeable and extremely glad to be here.  It is very well done and is about 18 minutes long.  It's on the last segment.

If you check out his Twitter acct it almost look like he has 3 kids on his pic at various ages under 14

I thought the twitter background showing 3 'kids' seemed to me to indicate that the one in the center was Julian at an earlier time as an athlete.
