Did you see Kriisa's shooting numbers? He attempted only a few more three-pointers THIS year than Keisei did the last TWO years combined. That's maybe why @AuroranHusker would wonder.

And he shot them at a pretty good clip. If I’m a shooter I want a lot of other guys who can shoot playing with me, especially ones who can shoot and share the ball.

I’m not in the KK is a must get camp because I think there are options available. Just think KT would love playing with other shooters around him. I know I would love to see it.

In that context it seems like Kerr is a blackhole.  However, if you look at their numbers in the context of the team, it paints a different story.

In terms of raw numbers, Keisei's are somewhat muted because he was a role player the first half of the season and Nebraska played at a fairly middling pace. When Keisei was on the court, he did lead the team (27.7% )in KenPom's percentage of shots taken. (We absolutely want Keisei to take the most shots as he's a highly efficient scorer). One other thing that makes Keisei special besides his range is his shooting touch inside the arc...he took 141 shots inside the arc in addition to his 165 3s and he shot a remarkable 62.4% from 2.

For the last 2 years the centerpiece of Arizona's fast paced offense has been Azuolas Tubelis who essentially dominated the shots like he was Zach Eddy.  Unlike Purdue, Arizona didn't surround Tubelis with a bunch of 3pt shooters....just a couple, one of which was Kerr.  Besides point guard duty, Kerr was essentially a 3pt specialist, taking only 66 shots inside the arc this last season vs the 277 he took from outside.  His KenPom percentage of shots while on the floor was 18.2%, which is less than what Sam Griesel did last year.

I don't know enough about Kerr to know if he makes bad decisions or if he plays defense or if he'd be a locker room cancer.  What I do know is that he not extremely ball dominant so he'd be able to feed Keisei and that if he ended up in a corner like our PGs tend to in Fred Hoiberg's offense during the course of a play that he'd be able to knock down shots.

Curious why you think he wouldn’t want to play alongside him?

I didn't actually say that. I wonder what the makeup of the team needs to be for Keisei to return, as in does Kerr Kriisa *help* that cause. I have nothing against any one particular individual. It's more how the overall team fits *together*.

I appreciate that you tried to assist in figuring this out. I am really wondering what it would take for Tominaga to come back for one final year in Lincoln. I hope the coaching staff knows & is able to fit it all together. I love watching Keisei play, and really want him to lead NU to the Promised Land. It would be amazing, basically like No-Sit Sunday but way better.

I read a West Virginia slanted article regarding their recruitment of this kid.  They seemed to think they have him locked up.  Perhaps they are right.

They indicated that the only competition is Nebraska, who is in diar need of a point guard.  What caught my eye in a bemused way was their take that the huskers shouldn't be a roadblock because West Virginia has the advantage of a better fan base and better facilities.   Made me sort of go hmmm.

Their fans have the commitment to apply their savings that they have from eschewing dental work, to their basketball program. Quite an advantage.

How does he compare to say Alonzo Verge?

In terms of % of shots taken while on the floor? Not in the same universe at this point.

Here is Verge

Here is Kerr

Kerr has always been a 3pt shootig PG. Verge was a combo guard who spent a season with us learning to be a primary PG.

The thing they share in common is that they're polarizing....Verge by dominating the ball so much and Kerr by being a Keisei/Caitlin Clark-esque spectacle on the court.  When you're winning, fans love it more. When you're losing, fans place the blame more on that person.

This video does a good job on highlighting why Kerr is a lightning rod

7 stages of grief on Husker recruiting:

1. Woo-hoo! This guy looks good!

2. Robin says we're in the mix!

3. Time to figure out new lineups for next season!

4. Oh, the competition looks pretty tough.

5. Hmmm, taking another visit after ours.

6. Crickets.

7. He has a lot of holes in his game, we can do better.
