redsteve Posted March 31, 2023 Report Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) Jazz is the difference maker for next season, plain and simple. Otherwise were in for a tough next season. Just not optimistic after losing Sam and Issie. Hate to say it.....And it will probably be another .500-.600 year anyway (with the current roster and the 3 current new commits. But just adding Weidner and Markowski made a huge difference when they came in as freshmen. So freshman can matter. Must have Weidner back. Hope for her sake she will be Okay. Regrettably but we should look to replace the ones that continue to not be able to play. Open up the roster with more recruits and/or portal players. Fill out to 15 or so players that can actually play on the court. And add to practice environment for that matter. I'm for taking another approach to how the roster is managed...not that it means anything to anyone. Just disappointed how last season progressed. Done whining JAZZ IS STAYING !! Tom Jones Posted March 31, 2023 Report Posted March 31, 2023 Wonderful Twitter post by Jazz. Shows that she is as fine a person as she is an athlete. redsteve, Neb Nets, Red Don and 3 others 5 1 Quote
Red Don Posted March 31, 2023 Report Posted March 31, 2023 Jaz' returning opens up a lot of possibilities for us, Recruiting-wise; Drawing attention to the program we might not have otherwise had (i.e. a returning, selfless, star player) and prospects for next year. Her emphasis on coaching, development, teammates, and community can't help but resonate with prospective recruits or transfers (indeed being a transfer herself). We may be in for some exciting times. redsteve, Montana_85 F, Cazzie22 and 1 other 1 3 Quote
All About the Corn Posted March 31, 2023 Report Posted March 31, 2023 Was thinking Jaz, Sam, and Issie might want to go out together. But I think she has more than just WBB to stay here for. Wonder how much Caleb played into her decision? Glad to have her aboard for 23-24. Hope we see more of the Jaz from year one at Nebraska. Cazzie22 1 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 What a great piece of news. We have a leader at point guard. A three guard system of Jaz, Weidner and Moriarity should be solid. The key piece is replacing Bourne and getting Alexis to be more productive in the low post. HUD, Neb Nets, Montana_85 F and 1 other 2 2 Quote
Tom Jones Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 Three guard system of Jaz, Weidner, and Moriarity? What about Krull? Quote
Neb Nets Posted April 1, 2023 Author Report Posted April 1, 2023 If Moriarty has the offseason development that we all hope she has, I can see her surpassing Krull in terms of being more of an impact player. HUD, All About the Corn and mwm89 1 2 Quote
HUD Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 We definitely need Kendall's speed, height and defensive ability at the 3 position. Maddie would still get plenty of playing time. Red Don 1 Quote

We will have Jaz, Weidner, Hake, Krull, and newbie Nisley at guard. I still like both Kendall's manning the '3' position. Krull could even switch between guard and small forward. Jaz returning, makes this group look promising. Red Don, Neb Nets and mwm89 2 1 Quote

mwm89 Posted April 2, 2023 Report Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) Yep, needless to say, great news indeed! Jaz thanks for returning and for your commitment to the Husker program!! I confirm and agree with the above comment. Jaz is one less piece we need to add for next season, but we know of course there are still others to fill to get to a better place for next season. Interested to follow what will happen. GBR! Edited April 2, 2023 by mwm89 Quote

HUD Posted April 3, 2023 Report Posted April 3, 2023 She looked really good as a starter in the Kansas game. Now we need consistency from her and others as well. whoopdeedoo 1 Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted April 3, 2023 Report Posted April 3, 2023 jmo, but, i think for the huskers to battle for that 5-6 position, they need to get good production from Potts and one of the freshman Nissley or the Aussie. Merlin 1 Quote

HUD Posted April 11, 2023 Report Posted April 11, 2023 A really good 17 minute interview yesterday of Jaz S. by Jessica Coody on Huskers.com. Maybe one of you more skilled than me can post it on our website. Cazzie22 and Red Don 1 1 Quote
Red Don Posted April 11, 2023 Report Posted April 11, 2023 (edited) Good interview and well worth a listen, especially near the end when they discuss the teams celebrating their wins (we've played, and beat some of the teams that made deep runs in the tournament, can't help but think maybe it could have been us). One of the reasons she decided to return (like some unfinished business), optimistic regarding next season, we have some good players coming in. Really complimentary and appreciative of the Husker's coaches And Fan Base. Edited April 13, 2023 by Red Don HUD, Neb Nets, whoopdeedoo and 4 others 1 4 2 Quote
