With the teams that remain, I may start rooting for Creighton to win it all so that I can savor this again:                                Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Creighton Bluejays Results, Stats, and Recap - December 4, 2022 Gametracker - CBSSports.com

Just wish we could hold up our end of the bargain in postseason play. Good healthy competition only improves the footprint for the state.

Brings to mind Beating National Champion Kansas in ‘88, & Final Four Wisconsin in 2014…

Barring portal madness, FAU likely is going nowhere after this run. Not a single senior in their starting 5

Can we NIL the whole team to Lincoln? Of course, once they get here, they'll go 3-17 in the conference, and get beat by North Dakota or some shit.

Surprised by Missouri.  Also-- is there any Alaskan school that could make it to the tournament, let alone the Final 4?

No D1 Alaska program. Just D2:

Alaska Nanooks

Alaska Anchorage Seawolves

So when we win our first NCAA game, I'll just claim we've won more NCAA games than all colleges in Alaska.  Got it.

Just make sure to put that in your will, just in case it doesn't happen in our lifetime.

If this year's tournament has done anything for me, it's reminded me that the regular season (kind of) doesn't matter.

You need to do well enough to qualify and get selected. Outside of that it's anybody's game.

That said, why do we make it so hard on ourselves in the regular season?

If they get past the Final Four, it's their game to lose. The left side of the bracket is suspect at best.

FAU: 13 NET, 25 AP ranking

Creighton: 17, not ranked

San Diego State: 14, 18

UConn: 8, 10

Texas: 7, 5

Miami: 35, 16

Teams who have never made the NCAA tournament (35):

Army, Bethune-Cookman, Central Arkansas, Chicago State, The Citadel, Denver, Elon, Grambling, High Point, Incarnate Word, Kansas City, Maine, Maryland Eastern Shore, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, North Alabama, NJIT, Omaha, Presbyterian, Purdue Fort Wayne, Quinnipiac, Sacramento State, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn, SIUE, South Dakota, Stetson, UC Riverside, USC Upstate, UT Martin, UTRGV, Utah Valley, Western Illinois, William & Mary, Youngstown State

It's seemingly not so easy to find how many D1 programs have been to the tournament but have never won an NCAA tournament game.

I decided to go to Sweet 16 games in Kansas City and Texas is going to be tough to beat. (That is very painful to say.) Marcus Carr was free agent add of the off season. Xavier struggled to get shots off and those same defenders can all score.

On a side note, 1st guy we talked to from Houston was a manager on the Phi Slamma Jamma teams.

This has probably been covered somewhere, but the combined total of all the seeds in the Elite 8 were as follows:

South regional: 11 (5 vs. 6)

East regional: 12 (3 vs. 9)

Midwest regional: 7 (2 vs. 5)

West regional: 7 (3 vs. 4)

We already have a 4 seed and a 9 seed in the Final 4. And, if Miami wins today, the national champion will be no better than a 4 seed.

This year shouldn't count. Whoever winds up holding the trophy, it should go down in the record books with an asterisk.

The question going forward is whether this is an exception or the norm?

(Realizing now...no pun intended)

With nearly free reign transferring and NIL, we might start to see talent spread out a whole lot more than 1990s college basketball.
